    AppleDesign Speakers II & AppleCD 300e Plus - $20

Thanks for that, that helps. I'm hoping to do the liquid bath like in this thread rather than the gel. The gel obviously works but appears to be dangerous for beginners (streaking, blotching etc). This liquid dip looks better to me, plus rather than removing gel and re-applying you can simply...

    AppleDesign Speakers II & AppleCD 300e Plus - $20

I might just be a noob but is there an actual formula? Something simple like "10 litres of water, 150 millilitres of bleach" etc? What is "oxy" and will any "hydrogen peroxide" hair bleach do? Sorry for nooby questions...

Plus and SE/30 ...and then some!

As stated, the Mac Plus on the left in the photo is a 128k or 512k upgraded to a Mac Plus. It was an Apple upgrade available 'back then' so personally I'd keep it as-is. The Mac Plus on the right looks like an early beige one, rather than a stained Platinum - correct? Nice pickup!

    Plus trouble!

Glad you got your Plus working again. The "Classic Mac Repair Notes" are really helpful aren't they! My Mac ED does the same whup-whup-whup infinite reset which is referred to as "activated crowbar." Unfortunately re-soldering many joints and adjusting R56 did nothing for me and mine will need...

I'm also interested in the cocktail you used to clean it up, don't think I read it on your site?

Damn nice pictures and writeup as usual. It looks fantastic. Looking forward to the whole set lined up in a pic (128, 512, Plus, SE and Classic) all freshly de-yellowed.

    AppleDesign Speakers II & AppleCD 300e Plus - $20

Nice work, I saw these on ebay. Had to try so hard not to bid! Those speakers should clean up fine with a quick dip.

Complete 512K with external floppy and carry case!

Krye linked up his "Mac Plus resto" in the Compacts sub-forum. Loads of pictures and loads of projects. Was hooked at work the other day! http://www.ryemac3.net/Home/Entries/2008/11/1_Mac_Plus_Restoration.html Check it out.

Complete 512K with external floppy and carry case!

Neat website by the way, want to get around to doing something like that myself. Just spent a couple of hours looking through yours :O Looking forward to pics of the 128k resto, your Macs have come up great and love the documented procedures. Shame the peroxide mix removed the silver from...

    Macintosh 128k analogue board

Check out the damaged capacitor in the bottom left corner too, it's bent right over (probably from bad storage) and one pin has broken away :(

    Macintosh 128k analogue board

That's OK then, I was starting to think perhaps the holders had been replaced, due to corrosion and were not original.

    Macintosh 128k analogue board

I have a couple of early Macintosh 128k's (with just "Macintosh" on the back). However they all have International analogue boards pn: 630-0108 with red PRAM battery compartments. Anyone know why these particular Macs have red battery holders? I've not seen any others like this, all my other...

    Identifying ADB dongles

Interesting request. I'm also wondering the same. I have a HASP ADB dongle and a Microguard ADB dongle and would love to know what software they were for...

    Macintosh ED Photos

Whilst searching my compact Mac collection for the back case "bucket" off my Platinum Macintosh ED, I also came across the fact that I have a beige Macintosh 512k ED exactly the same as yours Jason. It's the only one I've got like it too. I was under the impression there were 4 types/variations...

    ANS500 (alas, not mine)

LCGuy is right, most ANS's would have had a fairly quiet life, well looked after while in use then straight into the back room once they're replaced. I found mine wrapped up on a pallet in the kitchen at our office, with a microwave on top of it!!! I was allowed to take it, so long as I found...

    ANS500 (alas, not mine)

Yeah, that is truly amazing... Shame it's not an ANS 700 otherwise I'd be hassling you for the second power supply for my ANS 500 :( I've got a brand new "emergency spare" last gen '09 Xserve in my store room here. Who knows, in 10 years time maybe it'll never have been opened either but I...
