Cool!
That will be fun - I love working on the G3 iBooks.
Once you've started stripping down machines etc and have an insane pile of bits, make sure you upload a photo or two!
Update!
So the pallets arrived into Perth and I carted them back to my place. The only piece that was damaged was the 8100 which had a fairly hard hit on top. Everything else survived the (3,900km) journey by road freight. Thankfully not a journey I had to make!
Here's the pallets on the back...
Wow, that 6400 with all the bits is a really cool setup.
Are you able to elaborate on the "Apple Magic Collection" software?
Also, does the 6400 have any goodies? AV card, bit of RAM etc?
I own only Fords myself but am not interested in the whole Ford vs Holden argument that some meat-heads seem to have here in Aus. The WB with the 202 would have been totally bullet-proof. I would love an HQ one day with a 253, I really like their style and the sound of the 253's but I think a...
I have a soft spot for the 660AV as it was one of the first "newer" machines I had, after my Color Classic.
The VZ Commodore ute was a pleasure to drive, I really liked it and it still had plenty of power loaded up.
32 hours drive there and back would be too much for me too Jason. Thankfully...
Thanks guys.
I don't remember what cards any of the machines had in them, I just grabbed whatever looked salvageable. All the IIci's and IIcx's I grabbed had cards inside I know that much - they all looked video related.
As for what's left, here's a rough idea of what I remember off the top of...
Most will know about the mammoth conquest jsarchibald carried out and shared with us in July - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16410.
Anyway, I've just recently returned from the same property thanks to jsarchibald putting me in contact with the owner.
I am lucky enough that the company I work for has...
Good score with the 512k. The 512k would be my favourite. Great picture that first one.
Interesting that it was a 128k before it was upgraded. I have a 128k that has been upgraded to a Plus, pretty strange I think.
Everything works! The only machine that doesn't boot is the PowerBook Duo (230).
Very happy with the G4 MDD and the iMacs in particular.
Removed the clock battery from the SE/30 straight away. Evidence of leaking capacitors on the logic board, however it boots to System 7 on a 40MB hard drive...
You entered a contract by winning the item and unless it's written there in the description it means nothing. Payment to be received within 15 minutes of auction ending was NOT in that description.
Sounds to me like he changed his mind selling it - keep an eye out incase it gets re listed, bet...
Just this morning picked up:
SE/30 with Ethernet card
PowerBook Duo with Apple branded carry bag
9600/300
G3 Server (300MHz tower) with Apple SCSI card and Apple Ethernet card
PowerMac G4 MDD (dual 1.0GHz)
iMac G3 Graphite 600MHz
iMac G3 Dalmatian 500MHz
pile of MISC Apple cables
and a...
Personally I like it and it's cool to see an actual Apple branded one of these.
However, I know with the compact Macs, it is indeed near impossible to remove them outwards without snapping something but I find they're easily pushed further inwards (the way they were installed) and through the...
Nice to see you share the story Jason.
Seeing the pictures and reading about what you picked up makes me want to jump up and head over there right now!
Probably as close as a couple of weeks away now.
Thanks for the pics and advice. It's experience like yours that will prove invaluable to noobs like myself. I've got a Mac SE SuperDrive model (the only one I've seen in Australia) which needs some serious "retro-brighting" so I need all the advice/tips/hints you can give so I don't ruin it!
Dave.
