The latest mac build. A Mac Plus/Core 2/Color.

I can't believe I missed this thread the first time through! I have been wanting to do something similar and acquired my case donor, motherboard, and 8.4" color LCD last April or May, but other than acquiring parts, I haven't made any progress. So far what I have is a pile of parts sitting on...

    De-yellowing Compact Mac Plastics

Fantastic research and results! I typically avoid yellowed hardware I see on eBay (it often goes for less as well). Maybe now I can save some money de-yellowing it myself. Until now, I thought the the only solutions were to mechanically remove the top layer of plastic (i.e. SoftScrub abrasive...

F-keys Apple Keyboard II w/Griffin iMate?

I'm running Leopard 10.5.5 and using an old Apple Keyboard II with Griffin iMate plugged into USB. It works perfectly, but does anyone know if it's possible to simulate F-keys via some kind of key combination? I seldom need F-keys, but I'd like to know if it's possible just in case I should...

    Save This LISA!

If you don't have a use for it, personally, I'd put it on eBay. I could be mistaken, but they go for hundreds of dollars on there. Anyone willing to drop several hundred dollars on a vintage computer is most likely going to be a collector. Nobody's going to drop half a grand on a vintage...

Bwahahahahah! Has anyone seen this Apple IIe auction?

THE FIRST COMPUTER IN THE WORLD Pay special attention to the starting bid. ;)

    Apple lisa repair.

There's usually a pair of 330uF 200V(?) caps in PC power supplies that might work for you. Just about every junk AT/ATX PSU I've come across has them. They might work in place of the 390uF caps.

    Gamba

I'm new to the forum and never heard of Gamba till now, but I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. I was kind of curious to get to know him through his website, but unfortunately there's no personal info there. While browsing his site, however, I did realize I'd been there before fairly...

Mac Classic B&W grayscale & VGA mod?

Yeah, I've seen the 9" POS monitor done. It's electrically much simpler, but mechanically more difficult to install with minimal modification to the casing. I figured if I want to do a lot of mechanical modification, I might as well retrofit an 8.4" SVGA color LCD - which I may do if this idea...

Mac Classic B&W grayscale & VGA mod?

I haven't had much time to look into this, but I do have the new "innards" working and would really like to experiment. The donor is not a Mac, but a Jetway J9F2-KHDE Mini ITX board. I have the thing running Leopard 10.5.2. I have myself convinced that I want a Mac Classic that runs Leopard...

    The IDIOCY of some people...

I'm not sure how this is idiocy... how do you think electronic techs serviced televisions and monitors? You HAVE to run them open to even probe for correct voltages or take O-scope readings. Just use reasonable care to avoid touching live circuitry and you should be okay. I have repaired...

Mac Classic B&W grayscale & VGA mod?

Yeah, I recognized the scan rate and greyscale issues as separate, although it does seem there is some kind of sync signal in the video signal itself, perhaps to signal video start/stop or line start/stop? I don't really know since I only know a very basic concept as to how CRTs work. What...

Mac Classic B&W grayscale & VGA mod?

I've been curious what it would take to convert a B&W Mac Classic to grayscale and VGA with the ORIGINAL CRT and analog board. I haven't really been able to find many details on how the Color Classic VGA mod works, it seems all that's required to support a 31.5kHz horizontal scanning...
