Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Looking at pin outs, the connectors have nearly identical outputs with the exception of a speaker wire, and they are mapped out on the connector differently.
Would it be at all possible to re-arrange the wires on the Classic's connector to power an SE board?
I have several of those from old AT style PSUs in my inventory. They still have wire on them or are clipped right at the pin, but could be soldered to an existing wire. Let me know if you need some via PM and I will send some your way.
Nice! I'm going to have to bookmark this. I used to have an LC in my first computer collection about twelve years ago and all I have left of it is the PSU, which powers two 80mm 12v fans for an amplifier. This will come in handy when it kicks the bucket!
How possible is it to use a 2.5" SCSI drive from a PowerBook with the Portable? I have an adapter cable all wired up, the only thing I haven't figured out yet is pin 24 on the 2.5" drive which is termination power. It's been to long since I last did anything custom, or at all, with SCSI and I...
Just checked on the battery thing. IBook and white PowerBook batteries have the contacts more in the center of the battery edge, 12" albook have contacts at bottom edge. Also mock my tabs and grooves are in different locations.
That sounds like a good question for techknight. For me, I rebuilt my original battery and use the original 1.5a charger with it. Even though the battery won't last long with limited use of the computer, I have been using it for the past six months or so and this time alone I found to be worth...
If you are planning to get it, and it is a 5126 model, this power adapter will work, it is 2.0a that the backlit version is rated for:

If it were me, and I absolutely love my portable (check out my revival thread), I would go for it.
Unfortunately, the portable cannot be operated without a good battery. Technically, you can connect a 6V adapter to the battery terminals and "simulate" a working battery, to get it going...
The powerbook 1xx power adapters/chargers use the same style and sized plug as the portable, so that part isn't a problem. The problem is with getting a power adapter of the correct rating. Due to the way the charging/power circuit is designed, using an AC adapter/charger of ANY amperage higher...
I picked up my Portable's original white power adapter (7.5V 1.5A) on ebay for $45 shipped, earlier this year. They come up fairly often, though not regularly, on eBay. I find Portable stuff at decent prices to be more of a waiting game than anything.
If you have a 5126 (backlit version), the...
not to get off topic, but if there happen to be any spare Classic boards that turn up as "dead", I am in need of two sound chips and the small surface mount caps under the board stamped "1A5"
Great thread, hear, and the pictures are a great illustration to backup the material.
I always buy caps for my Mac Re-Cap jobs from Mouser. Usually Kemet for tantalums, and always Nichicon or Panasonic for electrolytic.
I have considered ebay, buy I just don't trust it for the Macs. I recap...
