I recently purchased an SE w/ Superdrive locally for $30. This computer has dual 1.44 floppy drives and has an internal 30meg HD (after opening up the machine it appears the HD was not apple OEM but added).
The computer worked fine but had one annoying issue, that is the display would appear...
Thanks gsteemso,
I actually have not tried this yet, so it hasn't worked or not worked for me. ;) I was just asking about how to get two macs to speak to each other and what I'd need. Sounds like a standard mini-DIN-8 serial cable will work, ...and yes I checked the printer ports on both...
Thanks Unity,
Yeah, I just read that article on Lowend Mac and it is a bit vague on exactly what needs to be done, but it seems to elude to the fact that a cable is all that is needed for two machines in close proximity. But i'll read a little more ... unfortunately I don't believe I have an...
Darn, ...it would be too easy if it were just a cable that I could obtain for $3.00!!!
Thanks! The next adventure begins ...time to start researching then hunting down suitable parts.
I did several searches and have not found any topics on this forum ...however I have to believe this is covered somewhere?
I would like to connect two macs, a Mac Classic II and a Mac SE (superdrive model) together. I would like them to be able to see each other and be able to transfer files...
okay, i verified that icon w/ the document graphic seems to have sorted itself out, I now have the mac icon in its place. That screenshot was about 30seconds in on the first startup of this machine since about 1998 or so. I'll cut it some slack for not displaying every graphic correctly...
I believe that went away, probably after I rebuilt the desktop (which i did do). But now you've got me thinking that I need to go double check that out.
It's been like a week now, the computer is running great. Have left it on for several hours w the screen saver, used lots of apps and played...
yeah, despite everything i've read and all the recommendations made to put your motherboard in the dishwasher I just can't bring myself to do this.
What I do is first get all the dust off by spraying with air (I use my air compressor and just lightly spray it from a distance). The point is to...
Thanks XBHS1997 ...
I wasn't expecting this to boot up after so many disappointments. I flipped the power switch, walked back into the kitchen and made my coffee. Came back out about 10mins later and was like what the heck! Barely had time to play with it before I had to get ready for work. ...
UPDATE:
Okay,
Got my Mac working!
I had suspected that I had a SCSI issue as two drives were not seen by system 7 HD setup tool or 7.5.3 setup tools.
A member on this board, MJ313 sold me a vintage but known working HD w/ system 7 on it. I installed that and it booted right up. (thank...
oh, no don't say it isn't so, ...put my Mac Classic II in a dark cupboard!! It's lived the past 15 years in a dark stored space ...I've taken it out of storage for a second life. ;)
Yes, on the hottest days when it is 110 outside it gets up to about 90 in the garage/workspace. I'll be sure to have a fan going on those days OR bring it inside for the month of August and September.
I did re-cap the entire motherboard (w/ Tantalum capacitors) and most of the analog board...
-you calling me old?!
Just kidding!!
That is good to hear about not worrying too much about temp's w/ our Macs. Moisture is not an issue at all, I live in California and not too close to the ocean (it's about 10miles from my home), but there is a small mountain range that blocks all the...
I recently took my Mac Classic II out of storage, it had been at the top of my garage for the past 10+ years. It gets pretty hot up there and as a result my battery basically exploded all over my motherboard. I've taken' this on as a project to get this Classic II back up and running. I am...
