    unistd.h in A/UX

Hmmm, why would gcc tell me that STDERR_FILENO is undeclared when unistd.h is included in the file?

Dynamic DNS client updater for older Macs?

I suppose the client suggestions listed by those sites do not include one for older Macs? And exactly how "old" are you asking for? Something to run under System 7, or what?

    Firefox 4 on Tiger PPC

    Yes, sorry. Latest 10.5.x, dual 1.8 G5.

    Firefox 4 on Tiger PPC

I've been using TenFourFox as my sole browser (at home) for a couple weeks now. Very good performance overall, very pleased with it. The only thing I've noticed is that when I use Cmd-+ to scale up the page, it acts multiple times for one press. Sometimes only three increases, sometimes all...

    coolest A/UX-related development

Tinkertoys: Yeah...I don't think anybody today would really want to live within the limitations of the Sys7 desktop all the time. Copland: If I understand correctly, Copland died of feature creep. If they had limited the first draft to exactly the same functionality as Mac OS then had, but...

    coolest A/UX-related development

As I said, My "goal" amounts to doing A/UX "one better". In it's day, it was Unix with a Mac face. Mac OS was the primary environment. Sure, you could run X apps with MacX, but they were always second-class citizens. If you stayed in the Mac environment, you could use it just like a Mac, but...

    Super Rare A/UX 1.1.1

    Wow, insane.

    coolest A/UX-related development

My "goal" is to have a modern Unix environment capable of running my favorite old classic Mac OS apps "natively", not windowed or with a different UI like in an emulated environment. I don't think BasiliskII gets you there. That's why I think you'd need the code for those "glue" APIs and the...

    coolest A/UX-related development

Anybody know of free C compatibility headers/libs for older (pre-1999) systems? Likely need that to build modern software.

    top command output

When I run top, I only get "top: getkval for proc array: Bad address" after a 3- or 4-second delay.

    coolest A/UX-related development

I've never tried the R6 that's floating around the 'net. I assume from your comment that it needs to be compiled and is not an easy process. :) Since we don't have shared memory, small widget toolkits are a must. I think I've said it before, but I'd love to see FLTK ported. Being stuck at...

What would be the coolest development you can imagine happening regarding A/UX? What's on your A/UX wishlist?

    Q800 and mystery Nubus cards

Congrats! I'd really like to have a Q800 (or two—can't have too many reserves these days) for A/UX. My Q650 is the second-best option, though, IMO.

    A/UX 3.1.1 open source packages

FWIW, I finally got around to trying some of this stuff out. I'm using bash3 for my normal user shell now. Leaving root's as the old bash1 for the time being though.

    A/UX 3.1.1 open source packages

One of the big hurdles to getting NetSurf on A/UX would probably be getting a modern-ish GTK to build/work. I've no idea if the framebuffer version would work or not. Does anyone have experience with NetSurf on other platforms?

    NetBSD 5.1 suitable?

I knew that at the time (Aug 2009) but had since forgotten it. Looking back at my mailing list posts, I may have been having other issues.

    NetBSD 5.1 suitable?

I was not able to get NB5 to recognize the 2nd CPU in my dual G4, so I ended up putting Linux on it. But that was my first attempt at installing NB on PPC (I've done mac68k numerous times and x86 a couple times), so maybe there is something I did wrong, or maybe it is just a support quirk with...

I think I'm going to be picking up a 605 after work today, with NIC and a 2GB drive, I'm told.

    Problematic Template:PageTabs

Hmmm, I'll try to take a look when I have some time. Does this functionality rely on an extra module that we may not have installed?

Good buddy, good junk = good conquest

Wow, very nice. I've never even seen a Newton in person, much less an eMate. A company posted free old PCs/Macs on CL this morning, but by the time I got over there all the scrappers had already loaded everything up. The only Mac I saw was a IIcx.
