There was some *ahem* small amount of sarcasm/cynicism in my post. :)
Actually, I wouldn't even care so much about the Unix layer. Let them keep that locked up. If they released just the Sys7 environment, and the "glue" code that made it run atop Unix, that would be great.
I'd help if I could! I'm back at work on the A/UX port. GTK1/2 would be a good place to start, I think. It also surprises me there is no lynx. I know that I'd appreciate xscreensaver, as it was the most-used app on my 68k NB boxen. :D
Thanks, that's the command I needed. No, I do not have the nfs line. :( Looks like I need to do a "newconfig ao appletalk nfs svfs ufs". That ought to do it.
I did know to change these, and ran "init q" afterward.
# mount -t nfs marcie:/usr/pkgsrc /usr/pkgsrc
mount: marcie:/usr/pkgsrc on /usr/pkgsrc: unsupported file system type
mount: giving up on /usr/pkgsrc
This really has me scratching my head. Any ideas? Do I need to set something somewhere in order to allow NFS?
Turns out there is no CD-ROM drive, or even a mounting bracket for it. I stuck in a tray-load 300i I had, but the faceplate is for a caddy-load. Oh well…
The video card appears to be a Thunder/8. No slotted VRAM on the card. (What kind does it use?) No slotted VRAM on the mobo, either...
Yup, been awhile now since I've been A/UX-capable. I'm very very excited!
Real nice clean unit, with some kind of video card in it. Haven't had a chance to open it up yet, but it was running off an external drive when I got there - internal is evidently dead. Owner was super nice.
He also...
Go get 0.10, at the same link as the previous post. More characters, more tweaks.
I'd especially like to hear from anybody that has Toronto installed and can compare side-by-side.
How common was networking in the Apple II days? I remember our school lab had about 10 Apples sharing a printer, but other than that I didn't even know the term "networking" back then.
My shiner's been offline for, oh about 9 months or so, and when I wanted to look up a couple things the other day the site was down! Guess I should have archived it when I had the chance.
