This is exactly as I thought. I guess either the board in question was a rare prototype or some Corp. had given their agent $200 to spend. The whole story came from I guy I bought a IIsi board from + RAM for $10 shipped.
Incidentally I was going to a Mac II today for $15, But I just got a call...
I heard a story recently about someone paying $200 for a Macintosh II motherboard. The idea was that it was some rare variant and not a prototype or something like that. I have never heard of anything like that, so I'm asking you guys.
Any info?
No, No. I didn't bid. I knew the moment I asked that it was for curiousity's sake. But I'm guessing I did drive up the price, what with the info that resulted.
Sold for $338.45 cn. And appears to have drawn interest from Symbolics themselves. Hoping for something, anything they can still sell, mabye. I should have kept my mouth shut and bid low :-)
Speaking of hard drive brackets, the IIfx I got a little while ago had it attached with a strip of double-sided-sticky foam. The HD and 3/4 of the foam removed by the former owner. It actually worked very well (I saw it). Just leaves a bit of crap there now.
Its not mine. I'm the one who asked what the cards were. Any machine with six slots filled is inherently interesting, whatever its real value might be.

Now I don't know a thing about MacIvory, but someone here might.
PB150 w/ Adapter. Unfortunately the battery has leaked, the trackball collar's tabs are broken, and no response can be had from it.
PB145 has old screen syndrome. For about three minutes the brightness goes between normal and non-visible, with no discernable reason. After that it settles down...
Well what kind of games do you like? twitchy games? strategy games? rpg? puzzles? etc. etc.
The last 68k game I played was Armor Alley. Very good game. Mind the copy protection tho.

Somehow the quality got trashed between the poster, the camera and the upload. Actually, I'm pretty sure it was the camera combined with my failing to hold it steady. It's 14.5 in. tall in real life. Mabye I'll frame it.
Whoa. Give me a chance to play with them first.
Nope. I put them in my parents' basement, as I live in NYC apartment (= no room) I will have to borrow a camera to shoot this stuff too. Mabye next weekend or memorial day I'll get a good look at them. Real life intrudes now and then, you know...
Interesting you should bring this up, because my primary field is numismatics. It is true that you should never, ever clean a coin as a collector. Now don't get me wrong, ancient and medieval coins which have been under the ground or in the ocean for centuries will have been, in some manner...
Sounds effective, but I don't have the guts to use sandpaper. I recently came into possession of a crap IIci case, so I'm going to test my old method for keys: straight in the dishwasher. Obviously this will only work if I get all the electronics out.
OK, technically the whitening will work...
I can't remember for sure but PBs 145, 150, 170 are my guess. A PB1400 with cat vomit damage (!) was lost (also owner had stuff on HD he did not want to give up).
The poster was from a second guy who had had a crazy assortment of mac stuff through the years (most of which have long since...
Spent part of the weekend in Boston. Score!
IIx in II case
IIx
IIfx (little worried about this one. I've never seen rust on a 3.5 dd before)
IIci in shambles (drive tray was left unsecured, crushed part of mobo; no PS)
IIci no hd
IIsi shot motherboard -- watch your batteries!!
3 PB 1XXs...
Speaking of the land of 10,000 lakes I was checking up the craigslist there when I thought about driving out there to see relatives. Minn. and Wisconsin seem to have a bumper crop of old macs. Far more so than all of Chicago, Indiana, Ohio, Penn.… all the places I would have traveled through...
:(
Just lost not one but two auctions for the vaunted tower. Any of you bums a proud new owner?
Speaking seriously tho', does anyone know / surmise the production/sales figures for the Quadra 950 or any individual Apple machines? Besides the "Only 12,000 20th Anniversaries evar".
