hey basalgangster.. you are one step ahead of me! :) I have just discovered my floppy disk set for OS7.0.1 does seem to have different installs for different Macs. I found the install for the IIfx and all seemed well, but gloom, although when swapping floppies (Install1, Install2, Tidbits...
I'm sure I've tried that, I read pressing the "d" key on bootup forces the IIfx to boot from HD, ahem.. it starts and the screen/system halts with that message box "Welcome to Macintosh"
I have a IIfx to sort, today I've sorted many problems (at one point the PSU blew smoke into the room whilst switched off! freeky 8-) ) but currently have a few issues with which I wonder if you guys could give me some pointers please .
1. I managed to boot the IIfx from floppy on OS7, looks...
hmm.. I'm having a bit of trouble with this. It is a Seagate ST39216N 14384 cyl, 3 heads and I've tried a number of formatters which all crash out after about 20 mins, the HD access LED flashes merrily away and eventually the little Mac comes up with "address error" and freezes.
I've tried the...
Just a quickie: I want an external scsi HD running OS 6.0.8 - I have under my desk a 10GB scsi drive, I believe it is possible to use SeaTools and make the drive look smaller, I have two needs:-
1. is to connect it to various Macs (Plus, Classic) - so what would be the maximum? 40MB??
2. Also...
I uses this: http://scsiforsamplers.com/cfcard_big.asp but on a sampler, it talks vintage scsi and works a treat. I will need to talk to JD (the owner) to see if it has been used with Macs.
I always think it is rather sweet (cosy and homely sweet) when your mother brings you something back of which she has no idea and turns out to be a gem. But afterall there has to be that wire from birth connected, a single point where both minds connect.
:approve:
:) thanks to those who offered to provide me with disks, the good news is I've managed to make some disks myself! Hurrah!
I needed Stuffit 5.11 (I think) and WinImage on my Win98 (because it has a floppy drive, my XP doesn't) - as suggested the SuperDrive thingy is also required.
I have now...
"1. SimasiMac (Horizontal Stripes)" - taken from the Japanese Mac fix site - but I failed to add, ahem.. there is no battery in the thing, does this model fail to boot if there is no battery??
Hello - I have a Performa200 that upon start up does as shown in pik (I've stolen this pik from elsewhere but looks exactly the same but the guys there didn't have a solution) :(
The boards is: 820-0326-B it has two SHARP chips in U22 (341-0257)and U23 (341-0261) marked as "128k & 256k"...
Hi - I'm new to Macs, I have just bought an Macintosh Plus with no disks. I read a Windows PC cannot make a floppy the little Mac+ can read, is that correct? If so I need OS 6.x on floppy.
If so, ahem... is there anyone who could provide me such a floppy? So basically I'm on the scrounge for OS...
Just a tech question regarding the CRT, I notice my small collection of Mac Plus' don't have dag wires - usually a sin. 8-o I've seen piks of US models with dag wire. :?: Is this intentional?
