I've the same issue, planning to swap the caps on the inverter board. Figure that'll do it.
Doing the screen caps anyway, but I think the inverter caps should fix the contrast drift.
Yeah... new user, figured a thread a few months old wasn't *too* necromantic.
Just picked up one of these at a flea market and have started diving into the community.
Inverter board is only two caps, I've found my contrast is constantly drifting so that's a likely cause as well.
This is what my screen looks like right now:
There's another thread that goes over the cap replacement and it really clears up a bit. You'll still get a bit of ghosting and light...
Awesome. I'm planning to go full tech-hipster with this thing, getting it online and usable in some fashion.
I just bumped the greyscale depth to 16 shades and notice some issues with the screen now as well, going to have to replace the capacitors there.
SCSI2SD card is ordered, I am excite.
The...
The lines and triangles around the border are actually normal, that's the circuitry edges of the screen panel.
If you're not getting display at all though, you should definitely recap first if you haven't yet.
There's a thread here that goes over a bit of that process...
This is fantastic. the LCD on my PB160 isn't anywhere near this bad yet, but I think the degradation is starting, and was planning to replace the caps.
Thanks for the video, it'll be invaluable to the effort.
Good note, thanks. I'd imagine it still draws far less power than an in-use SCSI drive
I'm surprised 7.1.x even supports drives that large, the 80MB in my PB160 seems practically cavernous.
Holy snap, this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Should this work with a 160?
Picked one up at a flea market that works almost perfectly, but I'd love to swap the ancient 80MB drive for something a bit more long-term stability.
...although, considering this drive was probably...
That looks fantastic. Were you able to fit any protective circuitry into the extra space?
I'd love to break in my printer with this once I do the long-overdue maintenance, now that it's out of storage.
Just picked up a PB160 at a flea market, and aside from the dead battery and trackball in...
