    Multiplayer games over localtalk?

So my nephews are coming today and I was wondering if there's any multiplayer game over localtalk network. Ideally for 68K. I know that The Oregon Trail CD version had some kind of network playing, but I don't think my nephews will be very excited about. Do you know about something?

    PowerBook 540c hinge restoration: SUCCESS!!!

The big deal here will be the glueing part. It will be a lot weaker than the layer adhesion. I won't go cheap on the epoxy, I'm thinking on this: https://www.mundoceys.com/storage/app/media/fichas_tecnicas/510106 HT ARALDITE STANDARD.pdf I'm sorry, I couldn't find an English version, but if...

    PowerBook 540c hinge restoration: SUCCESS!!!

I think I could do something. I'll get on it when possible and post both here and on the pinned thread.

    PowerBook 540c hinge restoration: SUCCESS!!!

I came up with two designs that may work, I haven't tested yet as I don't have epoxy glue right now, but both fit well. The first one fits between the two broken clips (you need to cut them flat). The second has a large glueing area, but requires to remove both clips completely and centering...

Send me some pics to see the problem. I have a 170, so I can get the measures myself.

    PowerBook 540c hinge restoration: SUCCESS!!!

Mine isn't broken luckily, but I can give it a try and see if I can make something.

    PowerBook 540c hinge restoration: SUCCESS!!!

Hey guys, I posted this on Thingiverse. It took me a while to do it, as it's my first contribution there. Anyway, here's the link. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4368963

    PowerBook 540c hinge restoration: SUCCESS!!!

Basically that's it. I got on fixing the hinge of my pretty little PB 540c, that had the display completely detached due to a broken case, and I dare to call it a success. I'd like to share it with you, in case someone finds it interesting. First I tried with epoxy glue, that did the trick for...

Portable M5126 garbled screen, no chime... :(

Sony did then ;-) By the way, any clue on whats the purpose of jumpers W200 and W201 on the backlit?

Macintosh Portable - A couple questions (RAM!)

He made it public, and @maceffects will launch their own card, based on Techknight’s design. In the last post they said: “soon”

Macintosh Portable - A couple questions (RAM!)

Techknight’s design has a jumper to activate or not the last MB, and so fits both portables, 5120 and 5126 each at its maximum RAM capacity

Macintosh Portable - A couple questions (RAM!)

Actually 9V is absolutely needless, unless you want to change battery while thr computer is running (in sleep mode). Or in case you run out of battery power and the computer shuts itself down. You can solder the chips for three cards onto the same card. That will give you 3MB in the slot plus...

Macintosh Portable - A couple questions (RAM!)

Sure! https://www.ebay.es/itm/293500755673 Anyway, stay tuned to @maceffects, as they will be soon selling technight’s design, which is 8MB for the backlit. About the backlit behavior I think it’s just its normal way, to light up when the control panel is loaded (yep I installed it). Because...

Portable M5126 garbled screen, no chime... :(

I had the same exact symptoms. In my case it turned to be a dead via under a chip, because of the corrosion caused by a leaking cap. The electrolyte filtered under the chip, so the corrosion wasn't visible until I lifted it. It was a via between chip U14A and U14J (I don't remember the exact...

Where do you go to find memory chips?

I read that thread about techknight’s home made card. What a job he did, who could get one of these this days… :’( Thank you for your comment. I have ordered two cards, I’ll try to make a 3MB card. By the way, any chance this can be further upgraded by soldering larger capacity ICs? The PB 170...

Where do you go to find memory chips?

Did you have any success in it? I've just got a backlit Portable, and I'm considering options.

Macintosh Portable - A couple questions (RAM!)

Finally the guy on Ebay answered and he’s sending me the card. By the way, can I solder the RAM chips, assuming they’re OK, from the old card to the new one? Would that increase its capacity?

Tunnel Vision On Monochrome Active Matrix Powerbooks

I used a regular size oven, upper and lower heating. I think it’s better to use one of these rather than a smaller one, in order to keep a safer distance between the screen and the heating element. Don’t trust the oven’s thermostat, by the way. Buy a cooking thermometer, they’re cheap and more...
