I agree. I felt the price was very fair. I've recapped a Mac SE FDHD and know how much time and effort it took. To not have to go through that was worth the extra expense. The machine was initially listed for $250 but it was dropped down to $225 - that's when I jumped on it.
The IIGS keyboard...
Congrats on your "new" Mac :)
I was the one who left the comment on your YT video about getting the Mac recapped. Do you recommend the Rominator II? What can you do with it apart from booting from it?
I just bought a Mac SE/30 as well. Mine arrived this afternoon. I've tested it out and it...
Last week, I purchased a Mac SE/30 on Mercari from a seller who mentioned he had already recapped the machine. This afternoon it arrived. In the box was a keyboard / mouse (1993/4 vintage) and the Mac itself.
It booted up just fine. Checking the specs: it has 8MB of RAM and a 340MB hard...
Thanks! Is there any place to source the ROM socket? Also, if the vias are toast, is it even worth attempting to fix this board?
I’ve already put a little money into recapping the board (95% complete). But 50 trace fixes seems somewhat daunting given the small real estate I have to work with. ...
First time doing this (and first time working on a Mac SE/30). Attached is the area I'm fixing. There was a lot of corrosion on the board due to an exploded Maxell battery. I've gotten it to a point where it's looking decent. Broken traces are definitely there. My question is: What do I do with...
I'm up for the challenge - I've been watching a few videos by Bruce (Branchus Creations) and I'm willing to give repairing the traces a try. If worse comes to worse, and I fail at it, I have something to practice on. I'm on the lookout for replacement wires to fix the traces so any specific...
I am in the same boat as Lorenz. I’ve attached a photo of the Mac SE/30 I am working on.
first question: Is this even feasible to work on? I’ve restored a Mac SE which was only in need of recapping (analog board, PSU, and logic board) but this Mac SE/30 that arrived from eBay had an exploded...
Thanks! I'm looking at getting an SE/30 that turns on (fan runs) but is not displaying anything on the CRT. The case seems to look okay. Is $100 a fair price?
I've never bought a vintage Mac from eBay and many sellers have computers for sale "as is" with no returns. Apart from whether or not the machine works / boots, what are some questions I can ask the seller (who may not be as versed in Macs) to insure that I go in with an informed decision? Thanks!
What is the most expedient way to install system software from the FloppyEMU onto a Mac SE that already has a mounted SCSI2SD volume already on it?
I ask because though the FloppyEMU includes installers for various System software, I am getting stuck at the point where the installer runs and...
It's an actual line - intermittently showing up on different areas when the display is ON. I did go back and in and reflow new solder back over various solder joints on the analog board and found one or two areas that weren't properly soldered. (I had to use a magnifying glass to properly spot...
hi!
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've recently resurrected a Mac SE FDHD, which I bought on Craigslist for a mere $30. What's been done so far:
1) recap motherboard
2) recap analog board
3) recap PSU
4) added SCSI2SD
5) replaced 2.5MB RAM SIMMS with 4MB RAM
6) replaced solder on...
