SE/30 + Asante Ethernet: close, but no cigar

Thanks, I went ahead and now selected OT from the Network Software Selector and I do indeed now see TCP/IP as part of the control panels.  It is set as connect to Ethernet and configured to using DHCP sever.  All fields now indicate 'will be supplied by server' and the 'search domains' box is...

SE/30 + Asante Ethernet: close, but no cigar

Note that I have had success with the Stunnel application installed on a RaspberryPi.  STunnel provides the necessary SSL/TLS security to connect to modern email services such as Gmail.  The email client on the vintage computer can simply rely on password-based authentication and is pointed to...

SE/30 + Asante Ethernet: close, but no cigar

I have an SE/30 with 32 Megs of RAM running 7.5.3.  It is equipped with an Asante MacCon+ ethernet card.  When I connect the ethernet card to my router (NetGear Prosafe switch) I do get a green light at the card and at the router and some activity.  I have installed the Asante drivers referemced...

    Sad Mac Code 040002

A few months ago I bought a NOS Mac 128K mobo.  I installed it and it worked perfectly well.  After a couple of weeks, I put the computer away in storage as I was working on other computers.  Today, I take the Mac 128 out of storage to give it a spin, I power it up and I immediately get the sad...

    System Error Occured ID=02

I haven't received my replacement RAM yet but here is some additional information about the error condition that I reported: The error only occurs when I try to open the disk to view its content, and this both by double-clicking on its icon or by using the File > Open sequence. This error...

    System Error Occured ID=02

Thanks, a friend of mine has NOS RAM chips, I got a set of 16 from him.  That should do the trick.  Another friend of mine had re-RAMed the Mac 128 and socketed each chip.  Unfortunately I noticed that he had used two different brands of chips (8 Samsung and 8 Apple-logo'ed).  I had heard that...

Mac 128 and its external drive

Update on the Bourns filters: I was able to contact Uniserver and bought a kit.  I will see if that fixes the problem.  Thanks for the help and guidance.

    System Error Occured ID=02

Thanks for the help.  At this point I will be looking at three options: 1) replacement of RAM (they are socketed now, it should be a lot easier), 2) replacement of Bourns filters (I just ordered a set), or 3) replace both.  I will then see if those problems go away.

Mac 128 and its external drive

Is Uniserver a user of this forum? I don't see him in the list of members.

    System Error Occured ID=02

When I load certain disks in my Mac 128, the Mac 128 will boot from it, but when I double-click on the disk icon to view its contents, the error message "A System Error Occurred, ID=02" is displayed.  What could be the problem?

Mac 128 and its external drive

Update: I am also using a Fanny Mac cooling system with this Mac 128.  I just realized that when I remove this Fanny Mac and connect the Mac 128 directly in the outlet, the problem goes away.  Could it have been due to power variations coming from the Fanny Mac?

Mac 128 and its external drive

My Mac 128 reads 400K 3.5" floppy correctly from its internal drive.  My external 400K drive (M0130) reads and writes to disk perfectly well when connected to my Mac Plus.  However when I connect the external drive to the Mac 128, I get disk errors with the external drive: it will eject the disk...

Sad Mac error 0F0002 on a Mac 128K

Update: the re-RAM of the logic board seems to have fixed the problem.  The 0F0002 error has disappeared and the Mac 128 is stable!

Sad Mac error 0F0002 on a Mac 128K

I should be getting my board back later on this week with the new RAM and also new F253 ICs,  I had read in the book 'Dead Mac Scrolls' that the error 0F0002 could be due to failing F253 ICs (AS253 chips at board locations G3, G4, F4, and F4) or blown traces in that area.  After inspection...

Sad Mac error 0F0002 on a Mac 128K

Thanks Steve, I figured that 0F0002 was probably a diversion since there was no software being loaded when it occurred.  I will give this another try once the RAM has been replaced and will see if the problem persists.  Also, I was wondering if the problem could be due to the Mac 128K not having...

Sad Mac error 0F0002 on a Mac 128K

I bought a Mac 128K a couple of weeks ago.  Both its internal and external drives are defective and are in need of repair, so I cannot use them with the computer right now.  In the video link below, the internal drive has been removed and the computer is not connected to any external drives...
