I see - but there’s no control panel for AppleTalk/share? I’ve been told by a number of people to go to that and check the port settings.
I am trying over the emulated network card. It is on Wi-Fi, if that matters. I did install the drivers on the pi, but I’ve done everything (Wi-Fi bridge...
In the process of trying to get my Mac SE to connect to a shared drive on my piscsi and I’m in over my head - the Mac can use the piscsi as an emulated hdd and network card fine, but I can’t figure out how to get AppleTalk working with it. Part of the problem (I think) is I don’t seem to have...
I'm not sure what is wrong - I followed the easyinstall script instructions and the pi thinks it's running, but my apple Chooser is drawing a blank. I do have internet via the Pi - my Mac can even telnet onto it to run things like Lynx browser
Thanks in advance for any debugging suggestions!
Thanks! Dumb question - my Chooser only shows AppleShare and not AppleTalk (but it has the AppleTalk active/inactive toggle in the bottom right) - is that fine/just a version difference or is should I see an AppleTalk icon...
Does anyone know if it's possible to download files "directly" accessible to a 68k Mac using System 7.0.1 with PiSCSI?
I have a wonderful little setup in which my PiSCSI has a hard drive emulated and supports wireless web for my old Mac SE FDHD, but I'm still moving files from the modern world...
I can say I've dualbooted both on my 1GHz G4 imac and Shuriken Tiger is substantially faster than Sorbet Leopard on it*
*except, interestingly, while modernish web browsers like interwebppc load way faster on Tiger, the websites themselves load faster in Sorbet Leopard. But to be frank neither...
I think it's an iteration thing - in my case it's definitely faster than my iMac G4, but it's not terribly surprising since this particular iBook is 1.42 GHz vs 1 GHz, with faster bus speed and more cache. My iMac is super cute but sadly I do struggle to find good utility for it in 2023 even...
Got my 17" iMac G4 a buddy - a last-revision iBook G4 1.42Ghz. This thing is mint... still has stickers on various parts. It's surprisingly fast too... trying to decide how best to put it to use! My only complaint is the screen is rather dim
Really hope I'm not jinxing myself here, but thanks fir your guidance the other day on my Mac SE FDHD screen popping issue. I cleaned the corrosion off the flyback (presumably just a cosmetic effort) and reflowed all the major solder joints on the analog board and the little screen neck board. I...
I'll see if it is still doing it after reflowing all the joints by hand on the analog board, as well as those linking the little floating board that attaches to the crt and the analog board
It looks to me like the solder joints are great. I also don't see any bloated or leaking capacitors anywhere. Here are some close-ups of the concern on the flyback. I will try a reflow, but given how mint everything looks otherwise (purely ignorant, though I am) I'm a little doubtful I'll see...
that's encouraging! I'll start there and report back. I'm also tempted to apply some of this to cracking in the yellow gluey stuff at the top of the flyback: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008OA7CAE/?coliid=I1WXXELAG2QTLB&colid=N7S35ANIO9GX&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
(after safe...
and as a follow-up: if my best option really is a new analog board, am I correct that a "regular" Mac SE board is perfectly fine for my FDHD (earlier year of manufacture, but I don't think they changed anything on that side of the hardware)?
Hi all,
I recently acquired an FDHD the other week, and by and large it runs great. The "cheese gear" was bad of course, so I fully cleaned and rebuilt the floppy drive.
I do, however, have a concern that my flyback is failing. I've attached an image here and you can see corrosion/leakage on...
