Hi folks, I have recently acquired a Farallon Ethernet PC Card but have no driver for it. I thought perhaps it would work simply with Apple's Network Software Installer, but OS 8 insists there are no drivers for the card when I insert it into my PowerBook 1400. A Google search indicates...

So, on the lookout for spare parts for my 1400cs (with dodgy screen caps) I picked up a 1400c for £20 on Ebay, without knowing much about it. Turns out this unit has a 2GB hard drive, Sonnet G3 processor upgrade, maxed out RAM, and a ZIP drive! I've struck gold :)

The layout of the keyboard is great - just wish the switches are mechanical! I'm on the lookout for the M0116 keyboard as apparently it uses the same switches as the Extended II, but in a more compact package. I've always preferred smaller keyboards...

Thanks for the feedback. The PRAM battery on the 1400 is long dead so that would explain the contrast behaviour at startup. I was hoping it wouldn't be the inverter caps as they seem to be a swine to replace!

I've looked with interest at the Apple Extended Keyboard as I am a big fan of mechanical keyboards (currently rocking a Filco Majestouch 2 with cherry blue switches on my PC). My only concern is that the Apple Extended Keyboard won't leave any room for the mouse on my keyboard tray!
