    The NoCSS development thread

The chat is complete and functional now. "Main" room should be used for introductions. "Vintage" is for vintage computer stuff. "Spam" is for everything else. Edit: not sure why Lynx shows the meta refresh but doesn't use it

The login and registration system is completed. It will automatically check if your browser supports cookies, and choose how to login based on that. Pretty cool if you ask me. I'll post pictures of the site running on my Mac Classic soon.

    Macintosh Plus BBS Surfing

I had never heard of this until now. I might have to get my Plus on a BBS as well! Edit: seems it's almost over, oh well.

The entire site will also support a "text only" mode, which removes all the <HTML> <HEAD> etc and the title and meta tags.

    The NoCSS development thread

On this thread you will find current progress and updates for my website "NoCSS". This is a site designed to function on 80s computers, and will have simple features such as chat, a web proxy, a google search system, and more. It will all function well on old computers due to stripping out...

Connecting old Macintosh to the net using serial

I never had any luck with Linux... I tried for a good hour, the PPPd just wasn't the same as the Mac one. Try using my proxy script and hosting it on your local internet. I was never able to access pages past my local internet from my old mac. Basically the script downloads the website using...

Apple PowerCD "portable" CD ROM drive

If you want to get rid of it I'm sure you'd get plenty of offers in the trading section.

Apple PowerCD "portable" CD ROM drive

It's totally useful. It's a SCSI cd reader! Could probably use that with an old mac to install one of the operating systems that were more popular on CD than floppy.

    Macintosh Photoshoot

These aren't exactly "new" macs, but I haven't really posted pictures of my entire collection. They are all completely functional (except for certain issues with the iBook G3). At some point I'd like to get a non-macintosh computer to add to the collection. Probably something from the II or...

    MacBook!

If you care at all about running PPC apps, do NOT upgrade to 10.7.... I learned that the hard way :( In all honesty, I wouldn't upgrade to 10.7. It didn't benefit me enough for me to care, it only made it so I couldn't run powerpc apps.

    MacBook!

not bad! For that cost you could shove the full 4gb and OS X 10.7 and still not pay that much.

Connecting old Macintosh to the net using serial

very cool! Didn't get a chance to check it out, thanks for posting the site in a reply. Haven't been very active lately with my NoCSS site... My hope is to get a google search system figured out within the next week, and try to fix my web proxy so there isn't a massive security issue.

Connecting old Macintosh to the net using serial

First priority is to get the iBook on the net. Once you can access something like google.com, you should be good. Set the gateway on the se/30 to the one on the iBook. If the iBook can connect to the internet it should be good. Set the ip on the se/30 to something like the one on the iBook but...

Connecting old Macintosh to the net using serial

Phew lots to work with! About FreePPP: For starters, I'd try it with MacPPP. Not sure how you got FreePPP running, it just froze the computer when I tried. Network issues: I had exactly the same issue with my iBook G4, same OS. Don't use wifi, that's just generally a bad idea to start. Plug it...
