SE/30 nothing happens when powered on

MAN! I’m on a roll tonight! What next!

SE/30 nothing happens when powered on

FOUND OUR PROBLEM! thanks to reading the thread posted by @techknight I did some poking around and sure enough, L14 is completely missing! Gonna grab that off the other SE/30 board and see if I can get this one fired up.  im also missing c74 and r35 (though r35 looks like it was never there...

SE/30 nothing happens when powered on

Yes it’s missing quite a few components. Not too worried about that.  After cleaning  off most of the garbage the traces are actually not as bad as I expected. It’s still got a long way to go but it’s getting there. At the moment I actually have more hope for that board than the other one lol.

SE/30 nothing happens when powered on

An update: connected the speaker on both boards. The corroded nasty one made a sort of noise when powered on (no chime, no ram). The gold socketed one was silent.

    Reviving a Macintosh Plus.

I’m kicking myself for not leaving 2 out to test the SE/30s! These are a pain to get in to.

    Reviving a Macintosh Plus.

Got this one from Johnnya101. Had only a vertical line on the screen.  I snapped the connector on the red wire so I had to replace that... the rest was pretty straightforward. Just used a solder-sucker and got rid of the old stuff around the problem areas and re-soldered.

SE/30 nothing happens when powered on

Yea I think that would be my next step. Oh by the way @Johnnya101, that floppy connector housing didn’t last long lol. I think I could’ve peeled it off with my bare hands. One of the screws snapped while removing it but oh well.  To confirm, nothing happens at all. It’s rather strange. I’m...

WOAH! Already a massive improvement. Keep it up!

SE/30 nothing happens when powered on

There isn’t much else to explain except that literally nothing happens when powered on. I know the analog board and crt are good because I tested it with another board.  Picture of the board can be seen below.  Where  do I start? I’m sure even if the caps were bad it would do *something*

Glad that thing is getting retrobrite. I agree it was quite intensely yellow. Would you believe me if I said my Plus was worse  im surprised at how much dust accumulated. I cleaned that thing inside quite extensively (with a dry toothbrush and damp paper towel).  My partial disassembly...

128k Macintosh board is it worth much?

How much is shipping to the US? That would help a lot of the users here. There are definitely people over on your end who would like it too though. Don't scrap it! :)

Are you by any chance interested in getting rid of one of the pluses. I might like another one... for a project.

    2011 iMac

SSD and ram upgrades are surely a must. Is there anything that can be done to prolong the life of the OEM graphics chip? Is it integrated or in a slot (what slot)?

    John's Finds

Ah dang sorry to hear it didn't last long. At least it will be a nice project then :)

Does it have the back door? Even as a parts machine it'll definitely be useful. Wonder if the trackball holder is even intact..

    2011 iMac

Not sure how I end  up with such nice items for free. Some friends were getting rid of it and knew that I collected such things, but man I've been using it as my daily machine now! Upgrade to 8gb and a nice SSD and it should last a few more years.

    John's Finds

WOAH! This is quite a haul! Edit: The icing on the cake would be if that 160 had a larger hard drive or a ram upgrade! It would go nicely with the one you just bought from me. Edit2: And a few of those machines look like they've never seen sunlight. This is quite a neat addition to your...
