Color classic headphone/speaker out not working correctly

Ok maybe I found something. so I found that pins 37 and 38 on U5 (DFAC2) are shorted (have continuity). Using magnification I can find no solder causing the short. Going by the schematic page 11, pins 37 and 38 goto the headphone jack. So the first photo shows what pins on the jack have...

Color classic headphone/speaker out not working correctly

yes I have checked for bridges and connectivity. the only issue with sound I have is with the audio out jack. I will have to steal a jack from my broken LC550 board (where I got the DFAC2 chip from). But everything on that board is corrosed so the jack is not going to be all that nice to look...

Color classic headphone/speaker out not working correctly

I tried cleaning the jack several times. I know cleaning the headphone jack on my IIgs fixed a low sound output. but Cleaning this one made no change at all. Should I replace it?

Color classic headphone/speaker out not working correctly

So I had to replace a bad Dfac2 chip on my color classic board to get any audio. When I plug a speaker or headphone set into the audio out I am expecting to get stereo audio out and the internal speaker to cut out.. But the internal speaker keeps playing audio and the audio out only plays audio...

Replaced what I thought was a tantalum but I was wrong. Need help!

So I tried another cap, and replaced a 3300uf cap because it looked a bit cockeyed and the label which shows the negative post location was pretty far from where the pin was and that bothered me (who knows).. Its booting again! I just booted from and external/portable SCSI cdrom (diskman)...

Replaced what I thought was a tantalum but I was wrong. Need help!

So let me start off saying I HAD a working Mac Color Classic. I had already repaired the board and replaced its capacitors last year. This week I was going to finally recap the Analog board. Well once I did theat the unit would not boot and had a constant high pitch chirp. After care ful...

Battery bombed SE/30 - what to do with it?

Stand corrected: 6 layer board.. Everything else I mentioned remains the same.

Battery bombed SE/30 - what to do with it?

The vias will be trashed. So the connections to the middle layers of the board (its a 4 layer board) will be gone. I have seen machines far less damaged still be toast. Soak in vinegar two hours and thoroughly wash with warm water and a bristle brush or toothbrush to get off the grime...
