Ok So I tried headphones and I do get sound out via the audio out. There is a hot popping though almost as if there is a short.
I tried the PRAM reset in excess of 11 times and it still makes no sound via internal speaker.
Board was cleaned pretty well. This board didnt have much residue as...
I havent tried the audio out jack to be honest. I will try that.
I dont use the system with a PRAM battery in it though (and I didnt use a PRAM battery when the sound was still working). Do you think that fix may work anyway? Waht are the PRAM reset keys?
Thanks guys
So my LC III doesnt make a sound anymore. I have been trying to find the soundchip to no avail. I was able to get sound back on my LC II by using deoxit and a toothbrush on a couple areas which had some whitish buildup on IC pins. I tried this on the LC III but still no sound.
Board was...
Can you please provide a link to your premade images? I can not find it on macintosh garden nor on a post you made about it here: (post #2) https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/mystic-options.596/
I realize I left this thread hanging. I was able to source a couple spare sound chips for the color classic. A new one fixed a the issues I have with the board as well as having a spare for the furture. I need a similar chip for my LC III which works fine but has no sound at all. That sound chip...
Well I was able to sourcea new 343S0129 sound chip and it fixed my color classic right up. I get proper sound and when I use headphones the sound comes out via the headphones and not the internal speaker.
I still need to find a 344S1033 sound chip so my LC III can have sound again but those are...
Actually on closer inspection the LC III is a 344S1033-B I believe that is the sound chip. ITs a 28 pin package. I am not sure what the 343S1069 is on the LC III but I dont think its sound.
YEah, the 343S1069 has less pins and is a slightly smaller package.
I now have 3 confirmed machines with failed sound chips. This IS a problem. My color classic sound chip has completely failed and now the machine only boots to a grey screen so without a new sound chip the machine is dead in...
So funny thing. I am just working on my LCIII and it also has no sound.. I dont know if this is new or I never noticed. But it does not have the same sound chip it has a 343S1069-A S Anyone know the differences in these chips? Are they interchangeable?
Ok thats where I am at. Complete grey screen (with the dfac2 installed). See this color classic had a bad DFAC2. I removed one from a bad LC550 board (battery and capacitor bombed). I got sound but not via the headphone jack. I removed the chip to make sure of no bridges but no change. I did...
This gets stranger.. Maybe I have found nothing. I just checked the dead LC575 board (which now is missing the DFAC2 and the Audio jack. The pads on the board where DFAC2 used to be show continuity between pads 37 and 38!
Do you have a color classic? I could really use the insight of someone...
I took the chip off yesterday and I can see with a scope pretty far under it. I really dont see a short. I think its elsewhere on the board.
Or the chip is internally shorted.
