Ok so I downloaded Lido and system seven and transferred them to the Powermac 5500 then, to the other Powermac 7200. Hooked up the HDD to the 7200 and Lido sees the drive but always comes back with an error. The power mac 7200 is running OS 8.1. The error is "Inquiry and request auxiliary sense...
If I recall correctly the drive had the jumper on the parity option. I looked it up and I don't think it is what I need. Yes it has the apple sticker on it and it says 40. The heads are not stuck as that's what I thought but I can hear it reading the disk and the heads moving back and fourth. It...
Thank you for your replies! Greatly helped me out I now have an area to start in. I dug through my floppies and I believe I have three actual 800k Mac floppies; one of which says for Macintosh II desk accessories. I will re format them in the Power Mac and try to get the images over to them. I...
Heyyy all. Whats up?
So, I have this Macintosh II computer which I re-capped the MoBo, snipped the batteries off and the machine starts every time with the battery jump method but wont boot. As I understand the diskette drive in there is only an 800k one and the Macintosh II wont take a 1.44 mb...
I too have that same card and the connector that goes for it. The cord has BNC connections at the end; one for red, blue and green. It did come in either my Macintosh iici or iicx, cant quite recall which.
I Don't have a CC yet but, I have two LC3's with the fpu's in them and I noticed a performance increase in both. On has photoshop on it and its much faster than before. I felt an increase across the board with the machines. Mostly with multitasking.
Hey all you cool cats whats up lol. :)
Decided to play around with the Macs again, all working still except for this one LC 2. Any ideas as to what the issue is? Still gives the chimes of death right away upon starting up the machine.
Anyone know what the Macintosh checks when it first...
Thanks everyone for all the information. Basically was wondering because every other Macintosh I own I am able to turn up all the way with no distortion with the built in speaker; except the G3. I can barley turn it up past half way and it sounds really garbled/distorted. The power output is...
Hi there, and thanx. It is always very soft no matter what setting it was at last. Compared to other macs, it is not too clear sounding either.
I've never really used this type of g3 before...briefly at the beginning of college, then the clear g4 ones with grey.
Hi there. Was wondering if anyone has heard of Macintosh speakers going bad. I have a G3 desktop Macintosh with the oblong speaker in that beige casing. Anyways turning the volume up makes it sound bad, almost like the voice coil is blown but I hear no rubbing from the speaker by manually moving...
Yes first change the caps out, then possibly the HDD is on its way out as I also had a Power Macintosh 7100/66 that came with dual 230 mb Quantum HDD's. They both worked initially, then, the main HDD started to give me errors. It caused issues as you describe where the machine was working then...
Hi there and thanks for the updates. Wow...I so cant believe that was the issue. Its weird how some of these Macs are more finicky than others lol. Still lots to learn about these Macintoshes but all very fun to work on and get going again. Thank you again.
Thanks for your replies. I am using the Mitsubishi adapter with the six dip switches. I hooked it up to an actual Macintosh monitor and its much better although I can tell the white is not as white as it should be from that monitor. Does have an even slighter tint of green. The OS is system...
Hello. Was wondering if anyone out there knew what would cause a Centris 650 to have a green tint to everything on the screen. Even the grey start up screen has a green tint; Like a light green, pea green tint. I tried it on a CRT monitor as well as an LCD monitor. Both yield the same results...
To me what I noticed the most was it is allowing me to do more than one thing at a time with out massive stuttering. For instance. I can now have a song playing from movieplayer and opening up the control panel window as well as some control panels itself, like mouse and sound, with virtually no...
Thank you for the replies. Well I did put it through the dish washer, twice, and still the same results. I let it dry out fully in the sun for eight hours before I tested it. I think the board is toast unfortunately.
But also, I did remove the FPU chip and put it in the LC iii. It worked...
The machine used to work when I stored it and I do not leave batteries in any of my machines so its not a leaked battery. Could be some residual goo from the caps perhaps, but as mentioned before it was working when stored. As for the cap job, thanx a lot Uni lol. :p But I'm no where near a...
Thanks for the replies! Much appreciated! I did swap out power supplies as I have another IIci as well as a Quadra 700 and a IIcx. All three PSU's exhibit the same symptoms when in that Machine.......Maybe I should put the MoBo through the dish washer as I swear that this machine did work at one...
Hey there! Have an odd question and am wondering if it is at all possible. I have a dead Macintosh IIci that has been recapped but still does not want to boot. Gives half of a chime and turns off. It keeps doing this. Anyways I was wondering if it would be a possibility to remove the FPU from...
Hello there! Someone recently asked me a question about how to fix the HDD's so it got me in the mood to take out my Macs....Its been a while since I used them but less than a year ago. Upon testing them so far they all work but one Macintosh LC ii gives me the chimes of death right away when...
