Hey there. So I have an issue with my power mac G4 MDD the 876 MHz model. Recently won a bid for two, one works great this one, not so much. Had to replace both hard drives as they just clicked. Installed mac OS 9.2.2 for MDD power macs on them. The one machine works perfect, the 876mhz one wont...
So after reading through I'm thinking it has something to do with memory mapping.
Not to sure about memory mapping and what it all entails. I read up on it and to me it seems like its going between ROM and RAM for the mapping. Somewhere during that process I think the computer is failing...
Thank you so very much. That was incredibly helpful.
Still trouble shooting the computers. No luck so far, I wonder if the processors went out on the computers.
I have, but find it really odd that the exact same thing is happening. There has to be something amiss on the MoBo. I guess I'm trying to figure out what it's testing. Something is not passing a test. Someone has to know what the machines check when they do the power on tests. I have yet to be...
Hi there and thank you for the replies.
The HDD's were Quantums one being the 230 meg ones which suck as that MB size seem to just stop working as I now have two 230 megs that just stopped working. Tried booting the machines with no HDD's in there either. Tried the no memory thing too.
I had...
Morning all.
So recently dug out the Macs again and as always one gives issues. Another 476 is exhibiting the same exact symptoms as another LC 475 I have. They both start up give happy bong, then chimes of death. Both of them do the exact thing. Its always the 475's - 6's it seems like. Anyone...
I believe they are. I'd have to check the powermac and see what they were as its been a while since I put a song on there. If I recall you have the option to select how you want it to import it.
I actually have used QuickTime to record whole audio tracks form cd's, convert them to mac format able to be played back on any Macintosh with QuickTime installed on it. It works quite well however the files are rather large. I put the files on the Powermac 5500 which is hooked up into my...
Thanks for the replies. Yeah I have noticed on the back of the external CD rom there is an output for right and left analog audio out. I thought about plugging it directly in to the line in but was not sure if there was a more proper way of doing so. Now that you mention the grey cable I think I...
Hi everyone.
Have a question.
Is it possible to pop in an audio CD and have it played through the Macintosh? I have not been able to get this to work on any machine that did not physically come with a CD rom drive built in. Am I missing something here or???
I mostly want this for the pizza...
Hey tjjq44 thanks for the tip, I believe I will just leave it as is. I installed the iomega driver to it and I can now hook up the zip drive to it. I just transfer files to it that way. No ether net card for this machine yet but one might turn up. I do believe this mac was rather original and...
Hey BadGoldEagle. Thanks for the help and support. It is an 800k disk drive that is currently installed in there. I'd like to get the 1.44 mb. one working in there. I have an extra one but the machine does not read the disks when it is hooked up. Just the 800k ones. I read that you have to...
Hello!
That was the issue. Works great with system 7.1 installed. I do however believe that this computer relies rather heavily on the batteries as every time it will revert back to black and white, simple beep, etc. when powered on from off state. But system 7.1 seemed to have cleared up all...
Thank you all for the replies. Very knowledgeable, much appreciated. AA, I believe the memory is fine as the machine starts up and gives the happy Mac chime each time but, always needs to be reset three times for it to work correctly. Apple put the reset button behind the plastic grating on the...
Greetings.
Thank you all for help getting the Macintosh II up and running. I installed 8 megs of memory in it using 8 1mb simms, it had 2mb in it to begin with using all 8 simm holders. Those memory chips seemed smaller than the ones I am using now. Anyways I have system 7.0 on it and it works...
Heyyy,
So yeah that worked....I now have system 7.0 up and running on the Macintosh II. That's so awesome and thank you all for your help. It was greatly appreciated and it worked like a charm... That Lido program is amazing. It fixed two of the three "dead" drives that apple HDSC would not...
