    ProTerm

Well, Proterm has finally been released to the world. See the link here: http://lostclassics.apple2.info/ The only problem that I have with their release it it's a ShrinkIt file, and not a shrinked disk image but simply a set of ProDOS files. I need it to be a disk image so I can boot it in my...

    Gearing Up for Summer

Well, mostly because right now I'm using Modem.MGR and it seems to limp a bit. ProTerm would be more friendly to my native Apple II applications, especially AppleWorks. Mainly I would appreciate better terminal control and better uploading and downloading.

Using my Powerbook 1400 as my only computer for a month

And to think I'm using Lynx on a IIGS all the time. Modern websites really puke on that. Links works somewhat better, as it has decent frames support, but still somewhat icky. But then I do have a modern computer for when I need to do banking, for example.

    Gearing Up for Summer

Lucrative... hmph! As a part of my gearing down for this summer project I will be brushing up on my HTML and making my own web page using only my old computers. If I can get some documentation (not likely on the SDF) I might even contemplate a Gopher blog. Which I believe are known as phlogs...

    Gearing Up for Summer

Indeed I have. Well, kinda. Mostly I am just finishing the last half of the semester here and hoping that'll be alright first. But I have been thinking about doing more work on my Tandy 102 BBS, and also a second run at a better, smaller scale Neo Geo CMVS. And I need to find something fun to do...

    Apple IIc programming confusion

I do know AppleWorks does pay attention to that switch. You could conceivably use the switch for other things, as it just flags a certain address in memory. I doesn't actually do anything but that.

    new 6502 computer, playpower

It does look cool, but I wonder whether Nintendo won't shut them down, what with it using the Nintendo architecture and all.

    6502 in 2009

This thing is known in other circles as a "NOAC" device, which stands for Nintendo on a Chip. It's also known as an FC Computer, or FamiClone since it's a clone of the Nintendo Famicom. These are quite common, but for almost $50 you're getting ripped off. Yes, it's a pirate device, and no it's...

Games you'd like to see ported to Apple II...

I want to see some simple but well executed NadaNet games. Maybe a port of Mazewars, or a multiplayer rogue or something like that.

    Now ~that's~ rare!

I honestly don't know if this is worth it except to hardcore collectors. The IIc lcd is really quite horrible to actually use, almost unusable I'd say. If you must have a nice classic lappy, go mess with the Tandy model T's. they are cheaper, more useful, more rugged, etc.

    Tandy conquest

I know it's not Mac, but I found an absolutely killer lot of Tandy stuff, mislisted on ebay. A Tandy 200, with literally everything you could want. Previously owned by the USDA and a guy named Bill, both of whom never used it much, judging by the great shape it's in. So it came with the Tandy...

    RetroBBS is down- for good

For those of you retro challenge folk who don't frequent the RetroBBS, it is going down this weekend and will not be coming back. At least it won't be coming back with Lorance as sysop. Lorance is no longer able to continue maintaining the BBS, and the torch is being passed. For the moment, if...

    Conquests from Computers for Kids

Conquest is right, this sounds like you just sacked Rome! 8-) If you find any DEC terminals or Tandy gear you don't want, lemme know!

    Winter Warm-up 2009

It was fun while I was actually able to participate. That BBS is still coming, just be patient. Maybe in the next couple of days I may post a video of the BBS being used. I have been doing tests of the BBS via my Apple IIgs in serial terminal mode. Apple Access works well for that. The BBS is to...

Winter Warm Up 09 - Gavo's Pseudo Blog

I can barely believe I was on top of that microbandit for part of a day. I didn't even try.

Winter Warm Up 09 - Gavo's Pseudo Blog

@luddite: Well, the university doesn't have ANY port forwarding, so I'm somewhat stuck there. And as a student they won't be giving me any, especially since I know from one of the IRT staff that I'm actually on their "watch list" which basically means that every so often my firewall lights up...

Posting in the forum from an Apple IIgs

Umm, no, it's a membership group for the SDF. I don't think it's related, but then again I am not sure, maybe I should check. Basically, you pay a one-time fee to get special features on your shell account that free users can't get, and as a Linux guy I really wanted and needed these features...

Winter Warm Up 09 - Gavo's Pseudo Blog

Cool you did a loopback thing. I am working with a different method right now, one which uses a Lantronix serial device server. I figure since I'm running my own serial code I can do without AT commands and stuff, but the problem is how to host the UDS. See, TELNET to port 23 brings up a login...

Posting in the forum from an Apple IIgs

Well, here's how I make it all work. The GS is connected via a null modem cable to a Lantronix MSS-VIA, which acts as a serial terminal server and which accepts basic modem commands and also more advanced Telnet commands and puts them into my LAN. I then Telnet over to the Super Dimension...

Posting in the forum from an Apple IIgs

And yes, I finally did it. Full brosing on my Apple IIgs. No, I'm not using Contiki, I am cheating a bit. I'm using Lynx (actually Links) inside of a Unix shell, which has been graciously hosted by the Super Deminsion Fortress. See you on thhe BBS.
