    520c: Help Needed

This was the impression I was under. How long should I keep the PMU battery disconnected for? Ten minutes? A day?  Either way, because for some reason I need to disassemble the computer from the keyboard down (according to the service manual, anyway) and the battery is part of the bottom case...

    520c: Help Needed

Alright, so here's (the short version of) the deal... I was playing around with my 520c and it eventually crashed to the point of complete unresponsiveness (not that uncommon of an occurrence with this sort of machine, really). Since I kinda forgot what the force reset combo was, I tried keying...

Ideas for empty Mac Classic case...

That's just called an LC 520/550/575/580. :p Beyond what ArmorAlley said, I mean... you can be one of *those* people and make it into an aquarium/terrarium. You could also do something a bit more interesting and try fitting a full PC in that case; perhaps a (mini/micro)-(ATX/ITX) motherboard...

Worst corrosion EVER! Silver lining...parts available! '030 accelerator!

Funny; I recently trash-picked a Classic the other day and it works fine; opened it up and nothing was leaky. Sometimes you just get unlucky, I guess. :c If Joe doesn't take the '030 board I'll take it since I now have a machine to put it in.

    Color Classic Video Oddity

No, that's not it - I've ordered caps off Mouser twice already. :p How else could I have recapped my 3 recapped boards? I'm looking for a complete list of capacitors to buy. From what I saw, the other list I was able to find (the one that looks like a picture of the board with labels on most...

    Color Classic Video Oddity

Figured as much :p But yeah, my main problem is that  And that's exactly what I'd want to do since I can't do that, and even if I could, I wouldn't want to. :) I'd rather my CC have as much new good stuff as possible. I just find myself unable to find a 100% complete list of all the caps...

    Color Classic Video Oddity

I've been reluctant, mostly because I want to replace them *all*, and I haven't been able to find a complete list yet. Perhaps I should abandon my obsession with replacing all of them and just settle for most of them? Plus the ones needed to do the "proper" VGA mod (as is stickied)? I've...

    Color Classic Video Oddity

Color Classic Power Supplies *are* their analog boards. :p ...it's possible that the electricity in the dorm building is crap, though - my Desktop's PSU bit it recently (as I was using it, it just shut off, and then the PSU made arcing noises and smelled plasticy!) even though it was...

    Color Classic Video Oddity

Alright, this might make it more interesting: the video waviness only occurs when I restart the computer; in other words, when the CRT powers down and then immediately powers up again. I suspect it has something to do with the way the LC 550 boots up its monitor? But if I turn it off (power...

    Color Classic Video Oddity

I assume the problem is bad caps on the AB, but I'll share this anyway: The gist of it is this: Whenever I have my LC 550 board in my Color Classic, the video is, upon closer inspection, a bit wavy - more so on the right-hand side of the screen than on the left (though that might just be my...

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

Huh. Perhaps it's a problem with the bus, then. So in that case, if you're getting the same results I'm getting, I guess I'm not going crazy. :p Off to get a Presto Plus and an LCI/II, then?

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

In case anyone's interested, I can say that the computer feels faster in different ways when using the LC550 board vs the Presto. It's hard to describe, honestly.

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

I... can't? How would I? I could get a multimeter (and learn how to use it, 'cause I don't know, but I'm sure it's simple enough), but even then, how would I test the lines? I assume the machine would have to be on while I'm doing that (and I assume that would be dangerous?)...

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

Alright, now, whenever I have the Presto in and the 32 MB of RAM out, the machine boots but doesn't recognize the Presto. When I have the Presto and the 32 MB of RAM in, it chimes and responds to the special key commands, but doesn't seem to boot. ...what gives?

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

...tried zapping the PRAM with the battery in, then installing the card. Still having the same problem. :-/ ...do I just have a bad board or something, even though it works perfectly fine in every other way...? I was able to get it to respond to restart keycombos and interrupt keycombos with...

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

I've already said that it works with the stock (original) board. :p It's just not working with the LC 550 board. ...yeah, they seem pretty nice, as the strongest pizza boxes.  :lc:

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

I don't think it boots far enough to let me zap the PRAM - invoking interrupt, for example, doesn't yield the Chimes of Death, even after I hear the startup sound. ...I have taken the PRAM battery out several times, but zapping still isn't a bad idea - perhaps booting it up, then zapping, then...

    Color Classic Upgrade Questions

It's not that the picture is garbled or blank when using the LC 550 board, it's that the CRT just doesn't turn on. It turns on if I use the Presto in the stock board, and it turns on if I use the LC 550 board without the Presto/with a network PDS card. ...I don't happen to have another machine...
