Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I've been working on this on and off for the past few days. I thought the ribbon motor might be stuck, so I removed it and it appears to be in good condition and the shaft spins freely on it. It does not move when the printer is in operation, which is clearly why the color is not working as...
Thank you for this! With your tip I was able to do some more troubleshooting. The button was a little mushy, so I replaced it with an on/off switch I can trip manually.
Unfortunately, what I found out was that the mechanism that raises and lowers the cartridge doesn't appear to be working...
I've got an ImageWriter II that I just got a fresh MacEffects color cartridge for. The printer has printed with no issues on black cartridges for as long as I've had it. I've never had a color cartridge before, and I believe it to be installed correctly.
The problem is the self-test, and in...
I may be stirring the pot here a bit, but do any of you access this forum from your classic Macs? With all of the recent discussion about more modern web browsing, I was curious if anyone's ever considered building something like a telnet interface to this site.
Thanks everyone! I opened it up last night and put 4 of the original 1MB SIMMs in Bank B and it started up immediately. My hope was to only use the new SIMMs since they are 60ns vs the 80ns originals, but I can always max it out at 128 later if I want.
Just bought 4x16MB SIMMs from OWC, whose SIMMs I understand to be compatible with the SE/30. Filled bank A -- no RAM in bank B. Powered on and got chimes of death and vertical bars on the screen. I had the board cleaned and recapped several months ago and all of the slots look pristine.
The...
Thanks -- I've cast enough doubt on the s-video switch to not try it. Wound up at a LEM page about the Dr. Bott MoniSwitch device:
http://lowendmac.com/1998/moniswitch-adb-a-kvm-for-adb-macs/
Dr. Bott looks like it is still in business but they only reseller they list doesn't appear to ship...
I'm looking for a way to switch a single ADB keyboard/mouse between a couple of Macs and a IIGS. Is this a thing?
I was looking on eBay and found this s-video switch. Any reason something like this wouldn't work (accepting of course to NOT switch the devices while anything is on)...
I got my logic board back from Uniserver and I no longer get those bus error bombs I was getting before!
Does anyone have any recommendations for an SE/30 web browser? MacWeb seems to never finish loading a page and iCab just hangs after it starts rendering. I'm inclined to think it's not a...
I've got a working LC 475 and as I recall when we bought it there was some promise of a future upgrade path to PPC. Specifically, I seem to recall there being an Apple-provided upgrade path.
Is this a thing? If so, what are the options?
A few days ago I was looking for a SCSI2SD mounting bracket and found one right here!
https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/24466-scsi2sd-mounting-bracket-for-se30/
I'll probably 3D print one of these one I've got the SE/30 back up and running (and get a SCSI2SD adapter)
That doesn't really surprise me. If I recall, I installed the drive in this when I first got it and I can't remember if that caddy was in there or not. My plastic molding won't hold the LED, it's basically flush with the case.
I was looking to see if I could find a replacement that does have...
Ah-ha! I found the LED pins on the bottom of the drive. For whatever reason, removing the drive from the caddy never occurred to me :)
This is another story. My caddy doesn't have the spot for the LED to mount! Were there models that shipped with a different one?
