    Setting startup disk on LC475

Thanks for the tips LCGuy, but unfortunately no luck. I believe my install has all the right bits (enabler and all), but I'm still not able to boot from it. The ommand-Shift-Option-Delete combo showed me a flashing question mark (which is more than I normally get). Perhaps its because these...

    Setting startup disk on LC475

Hi, I've partitioned the drive on my LC475 into 2 Mac and 1 Prodos partitions. The first Mac partition has 7.5.5 installed. The second Mac partition now has System 7.1 with Update 3 Installed. My problem is that I cant seem to get my Mac to startup from the partition with System 7.1 on it...

    Getting System 7.1

Hi, I'd like to install system 7.1 on my LC 475. Looking at the apple web site, I dont seem to be able to find a 7.1 download. Am I looking in the wrong place, or does System 7.0.1 update + System 7 Tune Up 1.1.1 = System 7.1? Any help appreciated. Cheers,

Utility to catalouge DiskCopy Image Files?

Hi, Does anyone know of a utility (Mac, Windows, Linux or Apple II) that will examine a DiskCopy image file and spit out a list of the files it contains? What about the same kind of utility that works on real disks? Methinks this would be very useful :) Cheers,

1GB of shareware and public domain software from 1993

Guys, First, after a bit more hunting I was able to find Stuffit Expander 5.5 and that runs happily on my 475 and recognizes the SIT archives :) So now my 475 is busily unstuffing the first CD (looks like its going to take a while! Especially as I'm doing it across the LAN - lucky I have a...

Apple IIe card for LC - Prodos Partition Size

Well, I bit the bullet and went for a 32MB partition. Apple HD Setup seemed to know exactly what the limit was for a Prodos partition - so I figure the 10MB reference in the docs is just a reflection of the times and the fact that 10MB was probably a big amount for an Apple II at the time...

Apple IIe card for LC - Prodos Partition Size

Hmm, tough call around if this should go in this forum or the A2 forum - I'll try here. So my new (old) Apple IIe card for my LC turned up today so quick as a flash I fired up Apple HD Setup to repartition my HD to include a Prodos partition. Then I stopped and thunk. The documentation...

1GB of shareware and public domain software from 1993

Hi Guys, I downloaded these at the time, but have only just started to try and play with them. Anyone got any advice on how to get into the .sit archives for someone who only has an XP PC and an LC475? I've tried stuffit expander on the PC which failed, and stuffit expander 4.0.2 on my 475...

First 100 Mac Applications / 1984 Released Software

Thanks Mac128, I'll take a look at that. I just looked at your M0001 registry BTW and man its grown since last time I checked it! Nice work :) Cheers,

First 100 Mac Applications / 1984 Released Software

As Mac128 mentioned, I was interested in something similar, although my slant was software that would work on a 128k Mac, but not necessarily limited to just being released in 1984. I have since modified my notion and started building a (small at the moment) spreadsheet which I have called "Mac...

    Ethertalk on Apple II?

Yes, well, actually, now that I think about it - I'd say it would be way down on my options list for practical use in 2008 - I think a CFFA card or something would be much more useful - but for something to do on a rainy day, could be a laugh to play with this stuff :) I personally never saw...

    Ethertalk on Apple II?

Interesting. The whole netatalk (on linux) thing is what got me thinking about this. I dont suppose you tried booting your IIgs from the Linux box with your ethertalk/localtalk adaptor did you? I notice that netatalk seems to support apple II boot. I suppose this approach (the adaptor) would...

    Ethertalk on Apple II?

I can probably guess the answer to this, but.... did/do any of ethernet cards that were released for the Apple II series support Ethertalk (i.e. Appletalk over ethernet)? Cheers,

Linintosh Server (PC to Mac file transfer)

Hi, Recently I needed to re-install the OS on an LC475 I had just purchased. Seeing as I had no other modern(ish) Mac to work with (being a PC guy these days), I had to do a bit of thinking as the the best way to go about it. The result is the Linintosh server. I have put together a VMware...

What do I need to get my LCIII online?

Ok, this may (or may not) help. Have a look at http://www.nzstory.com/mac/default.htm This is the process I recently followed for doing something similar to you. To use it however, you have to download some software (via bit torrent) from http://www.mininova.org/tor/1280998 I'm seeding this at...

What do I need to get my LCIII online?

Hmm, just had a look at my 7.5.3 install files and I think they are the same. This is the CD / network install image. My System 7.5.3 01of19.smi file has a type of "APPL" and creator "oneb". If I double click it, it "mounts" the CD image (by checking all the other parts are there). Doesnt look...

What do I need to get my LCIII online?

I believe you need Diskcopy 6 to be able to handle this. You can download it from the Apple web site. Opps, also just had a thought - how did you get the image files to your LCIII - I wonder if they have lost some important info in translation (creator/filetype etc). Cheers,

What do I need to get my LCIII online?

Hi, Just went through this myself with my 475. If you do a "custom" install of 7.5.3, you will be able to install Open Transport (1.1.1 I believe) as part of the OS install - if you do an "easy" install, you just get classic networking. Make sure you also install the Network Selector...
