I used a smoothing iron to remove EISA 32 bit slots from a PC mobo. I wanted the slots for my Amiga2000 back then and soldered them in.

You already did format a drive in the LaCie box with interleave 1:3, I suppose? I hardly can believe its an enclosure issue. I had such 40MB 5,25 inch drives in my MacII. I think those are just slow enough for a Plus. Newer drives must be slowed down in order to talk to a Plus.

My Bondi´s display right now makes unfamiliar clicks, accompanied with some kind of flicker, similar to the de-gauss feature known from some Trinitrons. I presume this tells me it will fail soon. :-( Do you think so too?

Yes, the PRAM battery is the usual suspect. I checked it already - 3.65V on board, that should do. The iMac bongs and boots - but the monitor will only power up from cold start as mains have been disconnected beforehand. Guess I´ll look for a used PC enclosure next summer on some farmers...

Just wanted to report back, that CCC did it! It moved my 10.3.9 installation to the 6GB partition on my Seagate drive and the thitd party drive is bootable. The Bondi blue´s USB is painfully slow, but thats the way it is.

Thanks fellows, the firmware is up to date, I upgraded many years ago, but just checked it to be sure. The Bondi blue is running 10.3 and 9.2 right now fro the 4.3 GB. Of course the drive is rather full, I´ll make another try with the 10GB partitioned to 6+4 GB. Do you think its important...

Thanks for your suggestion, I heard about X Post facto, I´ll take a look of course. I thought I would not need that, as 10.3 is supposed to work with the Bondi blue without tweaks. Is it a common issue, the 10.3 installer refusing non Apple drives?

Thanks for pointing to the PAV! What puzzles me, when I exchange the iMac "drawer" from a Rev.A to a Rev.B that combo restarts all right. Maybe I could move the Rev.A logic board into a PC enclosement and connect an old Mac monitor, if the mobo is good. For replacements, you are a lot luckier...

My Bondi blue Rev. A does not restart properly. The disk is spinning up and sounds like loading the OS, the Power button is green, but the sreen remains dark. With Shutdown and cold start the Mac boots like it should - with monitor in use. Do you have ideas how I could cure that?

With a little help from my friends, I made a bootable Panther pATA from an old 4.3 GB Mac Seagate. If the combo update is successful, I should be able to dump the Rage IIc´s ROM. If all goes well, should I save the Rage Pro Turbo´s ROM as well? Wouldn´t be a big thing to swap the Panther disk...
