I recently added a G4 Cube to my collection, and it has a security plate on it. Seems pretty well ot there, as soaking it in hot water for a few hours hasn't been able to get it off.
Any thoughts on the best way to remove this thing?
The 3400/Kanga G3 batteries are almost other-worldly with their longevity. I have a 3400 with the original battery that still goes for about two hours on a charge, almost 20 years later.
So I asked him for $280 back, because a "junk" TAM recently sold on eBay for $150. I told him that this is basically junk now, as it's only value to me was as a display piece. He agreed to $280.
I looked up Fedex from Chicago to Reno, and it appears, based on a 20x20x20 inch box (like it...
Update:
After a few days of sneering at it, I decided to fire it up and see if it still worked. To my great surprise, it started right up, and the screen even comes on (which the auction said it didn't). It's running OS 9.1 with 64 MB of RAM and an upgraded 10 GB hard drive.
The seller finally...
Yep, just got a PowerBook 3400 from eBay, and it arrived in a USPS flat rate box, with no packing material. Luckily, the 3400 is a beast, and can withstand a few bumps.
I have faith that eBay will do the right thing. I opened a return request with the seller, and if he doesn't let me return it, I'll open a claim with eBay, and I'll make sure to leave appropriate feedback
No, superglue will discolor the ABS plastic. Definitely not an easy fix - especially since I'm sure half the broken plastic pieces went out a hole in the bottom of the box.
I opened up the box to discover a complete lack of packaging material. The unit itself has a huge crack in the CD-ROM drive door, and the subwoofer has a large crack and several chips missing. Siiiiigh...
I'm pretty excited, I won a TAM on eBay that seems to be in great shape, except for one thing - the screen appears to be dead.

My guess is it's just a dead backlight. if I recall correctly, the...
I just went through the ordering process, and it sent me to PayPal to settle. I don't like Paypal, and refuse to sign up, but I heard it's damn near impossible to file a claim if you're not a registered member.
I guess I could always file a chargeback with my credit card company, if I don't...
I recently won an eBay auction for a Powerbook 520, where the seller did not include the AC adapter.
I did a little searching online, and found a company that claims to have new ones:

Anyone have...
Earlier this year I raided a co-worker's Apple collection and bought his PowerBook 100 off of him.
Unfortunately, his did not have a battery, or even a cover. It's been sitting on the shelf with an open battery door, driving me crazy.
Every so often, I'll look on eBay and Amazon for a cheap...
Recently bought a powerbook 100 from an acquaintance. He threw the battery away because it was starting to leak.
I don't really want another battery, but I'd like to get a shell or just the door, for aesthetics. Any idea where I might find something like that, short of buying another pb100?
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner Scott. I don't want to post the serial number, but I can tell you this one has a production date from June 1990.

My partner's mother used to work for a local school district, and she would frequently get Mac equipment at low or no cost.
She had mentioned to me that she had "an old mac" up at the family cabin, but didn't know anything about it. She said I was welcome to have it.
So yesterday, we drove out...
If you find one of the classics is non-functional, I could use a new case. My friend bought me a classic off of eBay for Christmas, and it's beyond repair cosmetically.
Just received the latest addition to my collection, a 14 inch Wallstreet model. It appears to be in fantastic condition, except for one little detail: The fan never stops.
It's on full blast all the time, and I can't figure out why. From the moment the laptop is turned on, a 14 inch wind...
I took it apart, nothing was loose underneath the heatsink. If I had to venture a guess, it would be that the plastic cone of the speaker has been ripped, causing the distortion.
