Blast!! (and other expletives) Went to get this running over the weekend but the software won't run under 10.5.8, wrong version of JVM. Installed to XP running in VPC7, but won't communicate on the USB pass through connection. Looks like Ive got to get a x86 Mac into the work room.
Having worked on these iBooks, especially HDD upgrades, I say congratulations on a job well done.
I must admit, I never thought to use duct tape to close up an iBook.
Slightly slower read/access times to me are acceptable. I'd be more interested in the disk image management on the SD card, preferably through a display on the reader, to drill through to, then select the required disk image.

My thoughts as well. It looks like the SCSI connector replaces the battery cover, but I can't figure out what the other grey cable is. Is that a "green" earth lead connected to it?
I thought the TAM could handle upto a 128GB drive, but the mounting points on the newer drives may be different distance part? Do you have another 2.5" drive you could test with?
