A good piece of software if you're running on a modern Mac is Reason. Has enough features to create tracks without any MIDI input, but if you're wanting to do serious keyboard sessions it will interface with probably any MIDI device. For doing recording from standard instruments outside of MIDI...
I think the kind of software that would run under 6 is simply lost in time. Obviously older versions of these FTP clients existed, but it seems you'll never find them anywhere now.
You'd need to find a version of Fetch before 3, or maybe NetFinder 1.x. An old copy of Anarchie might do it too but I can't seem to locate any version anywhere.
Poqet PC (the netbook of the 1980s.. runs DOS 3)
CP/M cards for Apple II (never learned enough about it to test)
IIgs Woz Edition w/ RAM upgrade and SCSI (no longer have)
If any of that really counts... Better yet, maybe the eWorld brochure I found yesterday.
It's a floppy drive. The front piece kinda folds down and props the front end of the drive up a bit. Hard to really see in the pic, but there are two rubber type strips near the edges which act as the feet when it is folded down.
Back before I really knew what MIDI was, I was running a really old keyboard on a 486. It was this product: http://www.oldsoftware.com/MusicStar.html
Years later I dug up this thing from storage and hooked it up to the MIDI port on a Korg MS2000R synthesizer (rackmount version of the MS2000, so...
I'd recommend using the Drive Setup version of the 7.5/7.6 disk tools boot floppy. Back in the day I had the same headaches with the SC setup not seeing my drives.
I'll also mention that the whole problem with me unable to get into Open Firmware might have to do with the fact that the computer doesn't understand the keyboard properly. Even now in OSX, the Alt/Command key doesn't actually work as the Command key despite it even being labeled as such on the...
I'm impatient so I burned at 8x which is the fastest my burner does (and my media is rated at). It all worked out, and I've got 10.4.11 running on my Mini now. The last image I got worked out doing a raw burn in MagicISO despite the program telling me it was non-bootable when I analyzed it. Now...
It actually turns out that my boot media is all junk. I decided to pop the Debian Linux boot cd I used two years ago and it went right into the boot menu. I've got new media coming down the wire right now, as another working boot CD I found simply kernel panics during boot. I may even have to...
I grew up having used the 475's quite a bit. A good friend of mine had a 575 and I agree those are very neat machines and the display is great. For some reason I really like the 475's look and would probably take it over the 575. Never seen a Q605 in person.
Got the Powerbook. I had some very weird problem happen to me though, and now that I think about it I suspect it is due to power loss. The 190 came with a battery that seems to hold a charge, and when I first fired it up and played around everything was fine. I then toyed with my 5300 as I was...
Technically haven't actually grabbed it yet, I'm leaving work early in a bit here and driving about an hour to pick it up. Not the color model, 28 megs ram, unknown HD. Boots into 7.6.1. Offered $45 and they accepted. I mainly wanted it for the power supply as my friend gave me an old 190/5300...
I had been using a lab of Classics with system 6 on a MacJANET network for a bit in school, and when I bought my first Mac (a IIsi) it came with 7.1. I eventually got 7.5 through the old "my Performa didn't come with disks, please mail them" trick, and took that right up to 7.5.5 downloading the...
That second link looks promising if the guy got his G4 to USB boot. Problem is I can't run that app since I don't have any OSX machines. I might try raw writing the dvd image of the 10.4 install onto a USB drive using one of my linux file servers and trying to boot off that.... Maybe by this...
