    IIgs ROM 3 compatibility

basically the ROM version is the logic board version, so moving to a ROM 1 system would entail finding a ROM 1 logic board.....and at that point, it's probably easier just to replace the entire GS with a completely different ROM 1 system.

    IIgs ROM 3 compatibility

Hrm. This is the error message: 02/154D 00 C9 BRK C9 A=A086 X=0001 Y=0000 S=17F7 D=0800 P=81 B=02 K=02 M=0C Q=BE L=1 m=0 x=0 e=0 My buddy who has a ROM 1 board took a disk that was failing here and it worked on his system. :( The game is unhappy about something. The system passes...

    IIgs ROM 3 compatibility

The test image came from here: http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/tetris. I tried it again last night, using the much less convoluted method of simply creating the disk directly from the .2mg image with ADTPro, and it still didn't work. I did load it up under Bernie ][ under System 9, and...

    IIgs ROM 3 compatibility

Okay, that's good to hear. My wife came downstairs while I was playing Tetris on my Mac SE and got very excited, because it 'looked' like the version of Tetris she played as a kid on an Apple II. But after playing one game, she announced that it was not quite the same, because the sound wasn't...

    IIgs ROM 3 compatibility

I keep seeing references to the ROM 3 boards being faster, but slightly less compatible. My googling has failed to turn up any definitive answer to what these compatibility issues might be, though, or how the word 'slightly' is defined. Does anyone have an idea on this, or a link to a FAQ that...

    Mac Plus Networking Question

I got my Mac SE/30 working with a Dynaport SCSI/T-Link yesterday (mostly). For it, I just installed the drivers, and there was a control panel for MacTCP. In it, I set the IP, Gateway, and DNS to match my internal network and that's all it took to get the Mac seeing the internal network. I...

    Mac SE and Dynaport SCSI/Link-T

Looks like the hardware is good! I'm able to hit internal IPs (on the local 192.168.* network) with ping, browser, and telnet. I'm not able to get out to the internet yet, but I think that's a MacTCP issue. I'm not really sure how to set it up. I have the proper gateway and router settings...

    G5 upgrade possibilities

Hrm. Maybe I'll drop leopard on it this weekend, if I can find the time. :)

    Daynaport SCSI/Link-T

Right on. I finally got a working Superdrive in the SE, so I should be able to get around to setting it up this weekend.

    Mac SE and Dynaport SCSI/Link-T

Really I'm mostly just interested in getting a telnet client to work on it so I can telnet into bbses. I did get a superdrive working on it last night, which led to getting the SCSI zip drive working. Hopefully I'll get to tackle the Dynaport this weekend.

    Mac SE Case Cleaning help

I used the scraping method last night, to some good effect. Unfortunately wood didn't work at all, and plastic only worked once I got it down a bit, so I had to use a metal paint scraper to *carefully* remove the top layer, and then as I got closer to the plastic, I was able to switch to the...

    Mac SE Case Cleaning help

Well, one advantage I have is about three extra cases from SNES systems, so I have a little bit of room for experimentation. The SE is the only compact Mac I have, so I'll probably attempt to master the process before I tackle it.

    Mac SE Case Cleaning help

Thanks, I hadn't thought of brute force. Once I get them off, I plan to try a batch of retrobrite, which I've been meaning to use on my SNES, anyway.

    Mac SE Case Cleaning help

I searched and found a thread about cleaning up the 'regular use' dirt off of a compact mac, but my problem is a little yuckier. At some point in my Mac's life, some stuck (I'm guessing) a couple of those 'paper holder' things on both sides of the case. The only remnant of this outrage are...

    G5 upgrade possibilities

Yeah, I've got a (heavily) upgraded Sawtooth running 10.4 and OS 9, so I won't lose that Tiger feeling completely if I move the G5 over to Leopard.

    G5 upgrade possibilities

Does 10.5 run well on a G5? I have a first gen dual 2.0 with 3 GB of RAM that I'm running Tiger on, because I've heard that it likes the G5 better than Leopard. (I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro, so I don't feel compelled to upgrade just to have the latest and greatest.)

    Daynaport SCSI/Link-T

Excellent! Thanks very much! Unfortunately I found out that the superdrive in my SE is toast. Fortunately, I came in this morning and one of my co-workers has brought me a new one, so now I can get the drivers on there!

    Mac SE and Dynaport SCSI/Link-T

I found a Dynaport SCSI/Link-T SCSI-to-ethernet adapter today. Googling makes it look like this will be a decent option for getting my Mac SE Superdrive on-line. Has anyone had any experience with this, or any wisdom they might impart? I found some 'All Dynaport Drivers' downloads on...

    Daynaport SCSI/Link-T

Woot! A little dumpster diving has provided me with a Daynaport SCSI/Link-T DP0801 SCSI-to-Ethernet adapter. Hopefully I can find the drivers for this little guy and get my Mac SE onto the tubes. It didn't come with a power supply, any documentation, or any cables, but I did find out that it...
