Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I was talking about the guys homepage that is archived. He put all that out there. No need to redact that.
His address is/was most likely in a phone book. That's public info as well. You aren't going to steal someones identity with their phone number and home address.
I agree folks throw out...
I'm interested in this as well. I was actually about to start a thread about cloning a SCSI drive....I don't want to hijack the thread so I'll post my exact question elsewhere :)
I have always tried to get computers / data back to folks, but they've never responded. I bought a IIGS years ago and there was some PowerBook in the box too that the guy didn't tell me about, or didn't know about. It ended up being his future wife's laptop (it was from when she was in med...
I didn't realize SE/30's were a hot item. I have one that, last I knew, still works. I left it with my parents across the country. I'll have to get it recapped.
Yep to all of that. I happen to have basic biz class internet, so I"m 'legally' able to run servers. My interest is mostly within a small group of friends, and beyond that my own curiosity. I gave up on running an e-mail server years ago. To me it doesn't make much sense. My home is no data...
I remember when we first started using multiple users. That was a big deal. You could log in as yourself and it would mount a personal network drive. Neat.
When I first started going to college back in 2005 (do you feel old yet? I do, oh that's just the kids...) I found a random B&W G3...
Thanks for the link, I'll give it a read. I've been wanting to learn more about AppleTalk networks of the day. I picked up a NOS book on eBay awhile back, "Troubleshooting AppleTalk Networks". It's actually pretty thick...
I recall setting up simple networks to play Marathon with a friend, or...
Wow great info everyone. Thanks for history lesson! My memory of the System 7 days is a bit fuzzy at times. Back then I was of the age the students you were helping recover their work (probably) from failed floppy disks. I remember in the academic settings where there were many student...
I meant more the "specialized" versions of Mac software developed just for workgroups and the enterprise. Not that file and web sharing on the client systems is useless, it's incredibly useful in my view, but there were always more heavy duty solutions. At this point I have my "modern" server...
I've looked around a bit here, but I cannot seem to find any forums specific to server software. Does it exist? If not...mods can we possibly have one created? I know it's a bit niche, but some of us (well, at least me :) ) are really into all things server in the Mac world. I'm always looking...

I found this awhile back for a great price. Showed up today in absolutely perfect condition. New in the box, sealed. I'd put it on my G4 but it already has 10.3 Server on it :)
