    SE/30 Powercache adapter?

I would say that was almost certainly the SE/30 adapter board. I'm not even sure DayStar made that particular PowerCache to fit an SE, the installation manual I have covers the Mac SE/30, LC, LC II, II, IIx, IIcx, IIsi and IIci, and they all need adapters apart from the IIci where it goes...

    DaynaPORT SCSI/Link-T adapter

It's 5v centre positive polarity I believe. Cheers!

Localtalk - Ethernet bridge help needed

I agree with the previous two contributors. I've also had an Asante MicroAsantePrint running for well over 10 years without problem. In my experience of them they either work or they don't work, there's not an awful lot of maybe they'll work or maybe they wont. They are generally in my...

Non-booting Macintosh IIci, looking for some ideas

Hey Bunsen, thanks for your input. I've tried starting the machine with the only RAM in bank B, and get the same result. But that was back when I first started trying to get the machine working, it's well worth trying again now as well, so thanks for that suggestion.

Non-booting Macintosh IIci, looking for some ideas

Hi Applefreak, thanks for your suggestion. I pretty much pull the PRAM battery out each time I've finished working on the machine, which effectively resets the PRAM, but I'll certainly try the keyboard reset route, thanks for the thought.

Non-booting Macintosh IIci, looking for some ideas

Hi Dennis, thanks for your input into this. I tried the II ROM simply because all else had failed, without it in, the machine simple came up with a black screen rather than a grey one. Yes I did. First I tried the display connected to the nubus video and then to the onboard video. The results...

Non-booting Macintosh IIci, looking for some ideas

trag and techknight thank you both for your input. I've looked quite closely at both logic boards when I was cleaning them and I see no evidence of either leaked electrolyte damage or damage to any of the pcb connections. That's not to say there isn't any there, I just don't see any. Neither...

    The Absolutely Apple Macintosh IIfx

You're absolutely right in both the points you make there Trash. Where I used to work as an Apple Systems Admin was a design studio that had that kind of a set-up in it. I first thought you meant the TPD as a Radius Tilt/Pivot Display, but then my brain kicked into gear and I realised you meant...

Non-booting Macintosh IIci, looking for some ideas

Hi trag thanks for your input. Interestingly, the Macintosh II, now that I've soldered in two new PRAM batteries, (this is an old one that had soldered PRAM batteries) is doing exactly the same thing as the Macintosh IIci. The PSU is firing up, the monitor is rasterising to a light/mid grey...

Non-booting Macintosh IIci, looking for some ideas

Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried that - same result. The psu fires up, the screen comes on to a mid grey screen and then nothing. It's failing its hardware checks at startup and therefore not even getting to the point that it's looking for a system. What's curious is that using the on...

Non-booting Macintosh IIci, looking for some ideas

I rather suspect the answer to this will be what I expect, but I think it's worth asking the question just in case there's something I've either missed or over-looked. I'm having problems getting a Macintosh IIci to boot and get past post. I've gone over all the likely causes several times, but...

    17" Powerbook G4 1.67 GHz

Apple made two G4 17 inch 1.67Mhz Powerbooks - one's a higher spec than the other and tends to be more sought after than the other and consequently goes for a higher price. The difference between them is principally a higher native screen resolution - 1680 x 1050 as opposed to 1440 x 900, a...

    The Absolutely Apple Macintosh IIfx

It's well worth having a read (or re-read) through Apple's documentation on IIfx SCSI termination (as I had to do recently for my own IIfx) as the IIfx handles internal and external SCSI termination slightly differently to most other Apple desktops. The lack of or incorrect installation of the...

    QT 150

I have a QuickTake 100 complete with original box, manual and original disks I'll be disposing of at some point when I can get round to sorting it out, finding all the bits and testing it! I certainly have the plug-in rechargeable battery holder as I came across it the other day. I'll put it in...

    IIsi HDD getting 5V but not 12V - I think - advice?

I think a lot depends on why exactly you're doing a 'motherboard wash' in the first place. A lot here seem to favour the distilled water route followed by a dry with a hair dryer - personally I don't really see what that achieves apart from giving you a nice sparkling clean motherboard - perfect...

    IIsi HDD getting 5V but not 12V - I think - advice?

Have you checked and replaced the PRAM battery? That's the first thing I'd look at doing. I had a similar 'type' problem when recently trying to resurrect a IIfx. The hard disk wasn't spinning up even though I knew the HD was good. I tested the PSU voltages and they were fine. On inspecting...

    SE/30 NuBus/PDS Expansion Hack Thread . . .

Trash I have a IIcx, IIx, II and IIfx if you let me know precisely what part you want photographed I can probably do that for you. Cheers.
