    Questions about Macintosh colour classic

I'm also curious about games for the CC. I noticed the math co-processor slot as well, but I doubt there are many games that would use it (flight sims maybe). Then again they're like $5 so it might not hurt to add one.

    Non-Working 1.44MB Disk Drive

That chart helps. I'll scour the web and see if I can find one of these cheap.

Removing the Hard Drive in a Color Classic

I tried pulling the tab up and pulling but it didn't budge and I didn't want to break anything. Maybe I didn't pull it up enough? How do you know when it's free to pull?

Removing the Hard Drive in a Color Classic

Anyone know if a good way to remove the hard drive in a Color Classic other than removing the entire analog board like the service manual seems to indicate?   This page seems to indicate that you simply push up on the plastic tab and pull the drive towards you...

    Non-Working 1.44MB Disk Drive

That's probably what happened then.  Probably bumped it out of alignment.  Guess I'll have to get a new one.  What drive model numbers can I use with a Mac Classic?

    Non-Working 1.44MB Disk Drive

No idea what's going on with mine.  When it tries the format the disk the head actually moves so I don't think it's mechanical.  I'm guessing something is out of alignment or something of that nature. What drive model numbers can I use with a Mac Classic?

    Non-Working 1.44MB Disk Drive

Doesn't appear to be.  Sometimes it will say the disk is unreadable and ask me to initialize it, other times it will say that the disk format is wrong and ask me if I want to format it as a one or two sided disk.  I think the mechanism is pulling in the disks right, they seem to go in and then...

    Non-Working 1.44MB Disk Drive

The disk drive in my Mac Classic has always given me some trouble.  Whenever I'd insert a disk I had to use something to poke the disk in a little further or the drive wouldn't 'grab' the disk and read it.  So today when I had my Classic open to replace the hard drive I decided to clean the disk...

    Bad Luck With Hard Drives

    That's what I figured. They're probably dead.

    Bad Luck With Hard Drives

Lido formatted the IBM DPES drive no problem, but the other ones still aren't being detected.  The full height Core one is bad I think (Lido can't access it), but the other two 1GB drives don't even show up (the Seagate and the nameless IBM one).  I'm not sure if they're even getting power to be...

    Bad Luck With Hard Drives

I suppose it could be the terminator. I'm using a terminator block on the back of the enclosure, but I could try using the ones on the drive as well. Of course I have no idea if I have the terminator on the internal drive set or not which could be mucking things up as well.

    Bad Luck With Hard Drives

Where can I find those? Macintosh Garden? Will they work under 6.0.8?

    Bad Luck With Hard Drives

Yes. Sorry I should have mentioned that. I read a post where someone suggested FWB Hard Disk Toolkit. Would that maybe solve my problem?

    Bad Luck With Hard Drives

I spent the day trying to put a new 1GB hard drive in my Mac Classic, but I've had zero luck so far. I've been testing these using an internal SCSI enclosure. I'm also using system 6.0.8. Here are the drives I tried. I'm using Apple HD SC setup 7.3.5 IBM dpes-31080 - detected but unable to...

CD Rom with a Mac Classic

Hmm... Well my Classic only has 6.0.8 but my Color Classic does does 7.

CD Rom with a Mac Classic

Ok I'll try that. I don't need to actually boot from the CD, I'm just using it for transferring data.

CD Rom with a Mac Classic

Where can I get the CD Sunrise extension?  The bus is seeing the drive because the SCSI scan in the FWB control panel sees the drive and reports when there's a disc in it, but nothing ever appears on the desktop. I'm using System 6.0.8

CD Rom with a Mac Classic

I'm having a weird problem trying to get a CD ROM drive to work with my Mac Classic.  I had a working CD Drive but I decided to use it with a different system, so I found that I had a spare NEC CD-3010A and a spare enclosure so I hooked those up.  I'm using FWB CD Toolkit and the SCSI scan in...
