Looks better with the right keyboard and mouse :)
Will switch to any resoloution under the sun in OSX, just not in OS9, must be missing the drivers or something for my graphics card. Going to use a program to force resolutions, etc.
Of course now i have a new issue...since zapping the PRAM...
Couldn't get that program to install despite following the instructions.
Bob says:
"In 9 I guess you are talking about. I never used the Apple Monitors so I never had the problem. If it was a non Apple monitor I would tell you to unhook and rehook up the display. If the cable that attaches...
Going to give this a whirl:

I did 640x480/256 with this monitor with my G4 Cube so i know it's not the monitor. Thinking it may be the graphics card.
As to the above; "reccomended" is all it will alllow me to select. Will report back on the...
Now here is another issue....I for some reason only have one option for monitor resolution. I need 640 x 480 for many older games which I know this 17" is capable of. Recommended is the only option. Any way to force more?
Very strange, haven't encountered this before (only one resolution...
So for whatever reason it works; the audio goes to the sub; and the high pitch through the 3.5mm to the Sphere speakers. Sounds great! Have been playing around with it all afternoon.
And please excuse the terrible MS keyboard and mouse until my period correct pro set comes in.
Nice---great input everyone; thanks!
Yes my sub has USB (on the packaging you can see it was originally intented for use with the iMac) but it claims it will work with any mac with OS9 with Audio update 1.3 or later so maybe it will work? The globes are the later 3.5 input and should work too...
Okay so it turns out i have the later Harmon Kardon speakers with the 3.5mm, headphone jack input. So at least they will work. There is a sort of weird ring at the base which is why i thought it was some sort of composite input at first glance when they were in packaging from shipping. The...
Hey Y'all.
Recently had Bob over at the Operator Headgap store do up a G4 Sawtooth for me as an OS 9.2.2 "Daily Driver." It's got:
-Full Ram (I think 1.5 or 2GB-Only 1.5 usable by OS9 obviously)
-1GHZ Sonnet Processor Upgrade
-120GB Dual Boot SSD
-32MB Graphics Card
-80GB Backup Drive...
Thanks guys! Is there a good how to page anywhere on accessing the PRAM batteries for these computers?
Edit:
Nevermind...duh (Let me Google that for you) lol
So i went to fire up my G3 Pismo the other day after a year or so in dry, dust free storage; and nothing. Won't power up. Tried both of my PSU's; nothing; just dead.
Has anyone encountered this before with these G3s? Is there a hard reset somewhere on the MOBO i could try; or will this...
Ordered a SSD from the Operator Headgap store with 120GB, Adaptor, and Dual boot 9.2.2 and 10.4.11.
I'm done dicking around with these 3.5 IDE drives :)
Thanks I will look into this.
So I tried my old 20GB drive last night with similar results. The 80GB gives me the folder with a question mark, the 20GB gives me the disk with a question mark. I guess it's not that big a stretch that both drives could have gone bad. Still given that I...
So i get my new video card and DVD drive in and put everything back together, and sure enough my 80GB hard drive that I got a year ago from the headgap store dies on me! Damn...if it's not thing it's the other.
I'd like to replace it with an SSD drive, any way to get that working with an IDE...
You guys are the best!
Going to snap up a 7500 today and attempt to put the baseplate from my 16mb factory card on it. If not, oh well, I keep my 17" Studio Display plugged into the ADC port full time anyway.
Thanks again!
So i've tried once to upgrade the video card for my G4 cube, which has 16mb VRAM from the factory. I have found that the few other cards for G4 tower computers that technically *will* fit in the Cubes short AGP slot, but do not fit well, they need things removed, don't fit flush (ie are...
I have similar wires on my LCIII and remember the old thread from when I got mine and had to look it up!
Yeah must have been a factory PCB error that needed mass repair. Fun stuff. The repair must have been decent because it seems like most of them are still working!
Nice clean find! Love it; looks close to it did right out of the box. I am a big fan of apple monitors and always try to use OEM when possible over old PC monitors, which of course isn't always easy to do.
Wow great find!
I hate to say it, but I like the paint scheme on the donor computer. Reminds me of early Silicon Graphics machines of the era... very late 80's/early 90's!
Super helpful! I will be referencing this thread for a while until it is all fully ingrained. I knew most of this at one point but the 5 1/4 needed to be at the end of a chain I did not...so super helpful thanks to you both.
