So it's a Hitachi SuperScan Pro 17, Model #CM1786M-AD
Reccomended resolution with my system is 1024 x 786 @75hz, but looks like it will support up to 1600 x 1200 @60hz or 1152 x 870 @75hz
Thanks, giving the Marathon Trilogy another okay through soon for sure! Some fine early Bungie work right there.
Question: this machine is rated for up to OS 9.1, but since I have the G3 processor, there should be no reason I can't update to 9.2.2 right?
Finally got everything setup Friday night and spent about 4 hours on it. Great computer and monitor! Have some Cambridge Sound works beige speakers on the way to complete the look :) May do a flat screen LCD eventually...but this 17" Hitachi (Circa 1995) is actually really solid and looks...
A few pics, looks like the third pci slot is full with a ribbon cable running to the HDD. Wonder what that is, IDE drive card? Didn't have time to look too closely.
Wow great post; thanks! It was originally an 8600/300. The original processor is on the MOBO is it not; not on a daughter card that would have been removed?
Thanks! I actually had this card in a PC back in the day as well (Macs were too expensive by the late 90s (Pre imac) for my parents to buy me another one.)
I have ONE PCI slot left! Maybe i should look into that PCI SATA card :) Would this one work...
Yes they were the second owner and mentioned they had the Marathon Trilogy and some other games on there. Pics to follow ASAP!
I would have taken some yesterday but didn't want my wife to see them on my phone over the weekend and ask "whats this honey?" haha
So...i'll start this by saying i've wanted a 9600 for years. The last 6 slot mac and beige powerhouse before the G series took over. But when this 8600 came up locally on craigslist for peanuts i couldn't say no!
Its a 8600 from Nov 1997 and came with the following upgrades:
-500Mhz...
I have read that the G4 Sawtooths just don't play well with the ADC monitors. I'm convinced if i can power it and get VGA out of it; it will work fine. Especially since any of the VGA PC monitors i've tried will do many resolutions in OS9.
Is there any way to power my 17" Studio Monitor and...
Still toying with the idea of getting multiple resoloutions out of my Cinema Display under OS9. If i sprung for a Mac DVI to ADC adaptor; would i then theoretically be powering the monitor, and able to get VGA out? Say this item...
No but this is probably a good idea. I'll take a look; or if you happen to have a link that would be much appreciated.
I know this monitor can do 640x480 in OS9 because it did it on my G4 cube, granted it was the cubes stock 16MB VRAM graphics card, and this is a slightly later 32MB Mac ATI...
Any thoughts? I got 640 X 480 from this monitor with my G4 cubes standard 16MB Graphics card in OS 9.2.2 so i know its possible.
Short of trying another graphics card; what would you try?
It's a ATI Radeon 7500 32MB DDR VGA/ADC AGP Video Card. I found the drivers page:
https://gona.mactar.hu/ATI_Mac/
But not sure which one would be the best fit for my 7500 AGP as none of them mention it specifically. Anyone willing to point me in the right direction?
Dropped the SIT on...
