Ok, it doesn't recognize W98, 2000, XP Pro or Ubuntu/Kubuntu. But it recognizes Vista. It will get to press any key to boot, and then it says it cannot be installed on this PC. I know that since it's not programmed to accept Vista.
So this is driving me nuts. I bought a new in box copy of Virtual PC 7 at the flea market for $10! Problem is, I can't get the dang eMac to pick up the XP Professional CD. I followed the instructions it gave me, and it says "OS not found. "Install an OS on this hard drive" and Reboot and select...
I can't remember the model I had, but it was a Belkin card. It worked with the 10.4 Airport drivers because it had the same chipset in it as the airport cards do.
EDIT - Here you go. http://www.ee.columbia.edu/~dpwe/resources/belkinairport.html
In some craft stores here in the US, they sell LED strips that are very thin and narrow. I'm certain you would have no problem sourcing them in the UK. They would probably fit under the keys between each row with no problem, but the biggest problem is trying to hide the power source and switch...
The screen going black sounds like a bad video connection or failing ambient light sensors. A bad video connection can cause enough voltage fluctuation to lock it solid. I had a ThinkPad A31 with a bad video cable, and the screen would go black and lock the computer up.
Usually a GPU separating...
Good thing I did some searching. PowerbookMedic has them for $9.95.

It seems that looking over that We Love Macs site, they are grossly overpriced on everything.
So... this is driving me nuts. When I got my 12" AL, I noticed that the feet were worn down to the point to where the whole bottom of the computer was touching any surface I put it on. I tried using some generic stick on feet as a temporary solution, but the adhesive broke down and is making a...
I replaced the 3 blade fan in my MDD with a better 7? blade fan. It stays WAY cooler. It runs at 45-47*C now. It used to run at 59-60 with the old, loud fan.
Yeah, didn't make a difference. It's like the adapter is completely dead or the computer itself is dead. I am currently trying to take it apart to see if the adapter jack came unsoldered from the logic board.
Ok, I got an AC adapter. Problem is, I think either the computer is dead, or the Adapter is dead. Stupid me for not having a voltmeter to test the adapter.
Computer does nothing. No power light, no noises whatsoever.
Anyone have a pinout of the adapter's plug so I can test it?
I personally hated my 500MHz iBook. Sure it looked cool, but it ran hot (burned my legs if I left it on my lap too long), was slow compared to a Pismo (cache), and the keyboard had the BO problem (yuck). That was my first one. I sold it after spraying the keyboard with cologne to hide the smell...
Thanks for bumping this.... I forgot to update it. I installed Leopard on the 20th, and it runs great. Youtube works sorta ok on 360p, 240p is much better. But since I have Mactubes, I use it instead. The only gripe I have is the fan kicks on more often than it did with Tiger. I think I will...
Got it today! It's in pretty good shape. The tab for the screen latch is broken, but that's expected since I've seen numerous 520s in the past with broken ones. None of the plastic is cracked or anything. Now to hope it works fine when I get an adapter.
Yeah, I like Windows for certain things, but obviously my Mac is my main choice.... I've just had such bad luck with Windows over the past 17 years that when I got my first Mac in 97 (A IIsi for free), I couldn't believe I was using Windows.
