It's usually the Samsung ones that fail the most, as well as the 360w ACBel. The 400w ones are pretty good, but some do fail.
The 400w AcBel in my MDD works great.
Thanks VERY much for the links everyone! Especially this link -

Setting it to 3 on and the rest off solved the artifacts problem. Now to install the software to get it working right.
So my Power Mac 7600 has a 300MHz Newertech Maxpowr G3 card installed. Problem is....I can't find an owner's manual online anywhere to set the DIP switch settings. They are all set as on or off... I can't remember, and it shows up in the system profiler as a 335MHz card.
Here's the main...
Yup... HD SC on the 7.5 disk will not recognize non-Apple drives, and even some Apple drives. I had to initialize my SE/30's drive in my PM 7600 with Drive Setup on the OS 8 CD.
EDIT - Lido? Wish I would have seen that before!
Dog Cow, yes, I will probably get rid of most of them! I'll never own that many Macs.
As for the external CD drive, I ended up replacing the NEC drive with an Apple branded 24x drive. It wouldn't read burned discs on the SE/30, but the Apple drive does.

7.5.5 flies on it with 20 megs... it crawled with 5.
It was definitely the memory. The memory gave death chimes in the LC II as well.
On another hand.... what's the best Stuffit version for the SE/30 running 7.5.5?
I ended up ordering some memory from eBay that is 100% tested as good and working in Macs. The seller claims it was tested in an...
2 of them worked fine in the LCII, the other 2 gave death chimes. I bought them from a reputable place and they were sold as fully tested and working. I put all four in a 486 PC I have, and it recognized them all as 16MB, and the computer ran fine.
I seem to have the weirdest situations.
Ok... I'm just going to make this my "Dumb questions for my SE/30" Thread.
The memory I got doesn't work. It's apparently not compatible. When I put it in, I got the death chimes as soon as I flipped the switch. Here's the memory I bought -...
