I fixed it! I found a site (http://www.whipassgaming.com/deadsections/macgamesroot/afterdark40.html) that has the patch I needed. I installed it and put my modules in the folder and it worked!
I originally posted this over on Macrumors in the PowerPC section, but I didn't get an answer... so Blessed Cheesemaker recommended I post here (Thanks!).
I found a copy of After Dark Classic a few days ago at Goodwill for a buck. Brand new jewel case still wrapped!! Anyways, I installed it...
Fan noise is usually caused by dust buildup on the fan blades or bad airflow from dust stuck on intake holes. I have a PC with a variable speed Thermaltake fan on the CPU, and over time it gets dust built up on the blades and starts to make a loud humming noise. All I do is brush the dust off...
Sounds like capacitors crapping out. My LC 575 AIO did something similar. I pulled the board out and noticed the oily crap around nearly every capacitor. That was 2 years ago and I regret giving it away.
I would zap the PRAM, pop in the OS 9 CD, and hold down option when starting up so the disk selection menu pops up.
EDIT - I'm an idiot... I forgot that the disk selection isn't on the G3 Powerbook.
I second Tony ZZ's recommendation. I bought a 128MB module, 4.8GB HD, and rubber feet from him for my 333MHz Lombard, and everything arrived well packaged and was quick (probably because I'm 85 miles east of Toledo).
I love my Lombard... I use it for older games and programs my 1.25 Dual MDD...
The Classic just has 6.0.8 on it. I'm not sure if I want 7.0.1 on it because I heard it slows them down quite a bit. If not, maybe I'll install it. The RAM is also maxed out to 4MB. Sounds like I'll have to go get my Lombard and download the creator changer and try again.
They are already on the Classic, and it won't let me change any of them. They show up as documents, and not applications. Plus right now I am trying to use my PC as my Lombard is at my friend's house.
They definitely are 68k programs as far as I can tell. Let me hook the Classic up real quick and get the error.
If this helps, this is the site I got them from -

I downloaded the ZIPs, extracted them and put the programs on a few...
Hey guys.. I joined here because I just recently bought a Mac Classic. Got it for a steal. Found it on eBay for $15, and since it was local, I didn't have to pay for shipping.
It was listed as working, which it does work. But the sound wasn't working, so I pulled it apart. Of course, I found...
