Testing a MDD logic board on the Bench

I have done this, using an MDD power supply, I found a PSU pinout online and identified which two pins I need to bridge to switch it on. As long as you have an ATX power supply with the right converter cable, or the PSU's had it's cable modded correctly, it should work fine! If your planning on...

    x800 pc flashed to mac

I think I remember correctly, that some X800pro cards were upgradeable to have the full 16 pipelines enabled, instead of 12. There is a fairly reliable tell tale, I can't be 100% sure I'm remembering correctly, but I think the tell tale was the yellow port on the end of the card. Can anyone...

    PowerMac G4!

Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), also known as high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE) and Dyneema. UHMWPE is lighter, more UV resistant, more abrasion resistant, more thermally conductive, has a higher tensile strength than Kevlar, and doesn’t absorb water - unlike Kevlar. Used in...

    Supported PowerMac 6100 L2 sizes?

I have a vague recollection, reading somewhere about a theoretical max L2 cache size of 2mb, but I don't remember where I read it, and it might have been the relate Power2/Power2+ chip. Equally, my memory might be playing tricks.

    Supported PowerMac 6100 L2 sizes?

Which would make it $68 worth of chips for 1mb, $136 for 2mb and $272 for 4mb. Which is a lot better than $200, $400 and $800!

Do 32-pin, 400mil SOJ sockets still exist?

That's an extremly nice offer, I sent them a message on eBay (I haven't had a reply yet) I might yet take you up on the offer. I see they're not the only sellers with good prices.

    Supported PowerMac 6100 L2 sizes?

So, how many $17 chips would be needed for the 1, 2 and 4MB sticks?

    1mb L2 cache for 6100

You gut lucky! I remember, back in the day, the performance improvements with the L2 cache were quoted as being between 30% and 50% speed improvements with the 512K stick. I guess the the figures were all about marketing.

    Supported PowerMac 6100 L2 sizes?

I would buy a cloned 1mb L2 cache stick, I've been looking (mostly on ebay) for around 10 years. I would be fascinated to see if 2mb and 4mb work, I would be interested in buying if I can afford it

Is there a way to increase the 136MB RAM limit in the Power Mac 6100 and 7100

I was always told they wouldn't work with ECC/parity modules, but I've never tried. Anyone actually know?

    1mb L2 cache for 6100

Less than winning the lottery, I've been looking for about 10 years. I have seen a few 512kb pop up on ebay over the years, but sellers wanted crazy money for them.

Do 32-pin, 400mil SOJ sockets still exist?

Firstly, you're more than welcome. But secondly, this is the cheepest I can find on UK ebay, £82.00 + £23.58 = £105.58($105.12 + $30.23 = $135.34), and these have been this price or higher for a while here...

Is there a way to increase the 136MB RAM limit in the Power Mac 6100 and 7100

obsolete was "thinking of building some 16MB 30-pin RAM SIMMs out of some surplus, unknown condition 128MB 72-pin SIMMs" which very nearly made me cry. https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/do-32-pin-400mil-soj-sockets-still-exist.46766/#post-525017 256MB sticks also exist, but I think...

Do 32-pin, 400mil SOJ sockets still exist?

No! Please don't butcher 128MB 72-pin SIMMs, they are practically unobtanium (at anything remotely like affordable price) the 64MB simms are massivly cheaper and mostly seem to use the same ICs (they're probbaly used on other things too). I have ordered 3 pairs of 128MB 72-pin SIMMs (all from...
