By jumper settings I presume you mean SCSI id? The Fujitsu is either the only device on the bus or there is clearly no id conflict.

Internally it was an 8600/300, OS 9.1, with a 68 pin terminated ribbon cable. Externally, it was a 9500/G4 OS 9.2.2, standard SCSI cable from the external bus, the enclosure was terminated.

Thanks for the reply. No service manual yet but one should be here early next week. I disassembled as much of the printer as I dared without instructions but no joy yet. One suggestion from a Google search is a faulty exit sensor on the fuser assembly, so that's the next thing to check.
