    Dry Reading!!!

    Old computer magazines are always fun to look at. :D They're like a preserved piece of time in the Computer World. I've occasionally glanced at the InfoWorld archive that can be viewed freely on Google books. One of them I had fun reading was the THINK Pascal 4 review in the May 18, 1992 issue.

    Pascal for early Macintosh?

    I posted back at the end of 2010 finding "macpix," a free pascal interpreter from the makers of Dr.Pascal. Sadly the links I provided no longer work. However, THINK Pascal 4.5 was released as freeware and you can find a copy of it on pascal-central.com. There's also a link to Ingermar's guide...

    favorite classic font, pt 2

    Apple Chancery is my fav. :D Why? It's just got a nice flowing feel to it. I even converted it so I could use it on Windows. (For Photoshop.) I usually leave the system fonts at their default.

    spammers

    Sorry to hear that. You'd think that any 3.xx version could be easily upgraded to the latest. :( I don't think anyone is in a hurry for the latest version of phpBB anyway, so take your time with it. ;)

    Idea for Programmers - 2019!!!

    Woah AF, congrats on having your post the first mind-boggling thing I've read in the new year. ;) (I had to re-read it once or twice to get what you were saying. Awesome facts there.) Found this little page on Apple.com. Turns out that they setup Mac OS to handle a range of only 100 years...

    Word 5 Manual

    Congrats on your conquest beachycove! ;) Although I don't necessarily collect manuals, I do try to get them over getting software without. Not only does it keep it more complete, but as Concorde mentioned, it comes in handy if you want to really learn how to use the software.

    Mac OS 10.7 Lion and Classic Macs

    I think they stripped AppleShare IP out of Mac OS X in Snow Leopard. (Original AppleTalk was available last in what, 10.2 or 10.3?) One of us need to create a "Netatalk for the rest of us" guide so we can bring back AppleTalk and AppleShare IP for SL and Lion. ;) (I could figure out and make...

    HTTP block device driver

    Wow, this really is impressive. :D I'm not too familiar with setting up apache servers, how exactly would I setup one to allow writing to the hosted disk image? Awesome work so far, really exciting 'cause this is the kind of thing I want to do someday. ;)

    A few requests... read before throwing the rule book at me!

    If your model is old enough, you can find Mac OS 8/9 drivers on the HP website. As for Schematic Capture, the only things I could find were McCAD and Designworks Lite. I can't seem to find a copy of the 30 day demo for Designworks anywhere. (Found a couple in binhex format, but they wouldn't...

    Or use TomeViewer for Mac OS 8/9.

    80 pin -> 50 pin SCSI adapter in SE/30

    @24bit: Oh no, you didn't hurt anyone's feelings. I was just being silly by using the word "expert." :o) Trial and error is my method for messing with SCSI too. ;)

    80 pin -> 50 pin SCSI adapter in SE/30

    @ojfd: Huh, that's almost how I have my 4GB Compaq 68-pin SCSI drive set up in my 6100. :) I used one of those 68-pin to 50-pin adapters on the motherboard, a 68-pin cable, and another 68-pin to 50-pin adapter for the CD Rom Drive. @24bit: Yeah, I realized that the Seagate I used was a...

    80 pin -> 50 pin SCSI adapter in SE/30

    I remember having one of those adapters on a Seagate drive in my 6100, though I don't have the drive or adapter on me anymore. :( I would try placing jumpers on ID0 and TPR. TPR tells me it might stand for "Termination Powered" or something-a-ruther. :p It can't hurt* to try anyway. ;) *...

    Yellow Dog Linux 2.3 found!

    I don't remember if I tried booting from the disc or not... I did install MkLinux on it though. (Which is also RedHat based.)

    Libre Office on Intel versus PPC

    LibreOffice is actually reducing their dependence on Java. NeoOffice (AFAIK,) is using OpenOffice as their based code. So it makes sense that Libre would be working the best. :) The only things I can think of that would still cause Libre to be slow on the G4 and Intel is the GTK GUI, and core...

    Macintosh Classic II - Recapping the Board - SUCCESS!!

    Congrats on recapping your board. :D My Classic II also needs to be recapped, just waiting for Christmas break to come along so I have the time. Since I don't have a dish washer, I plan on just soaking the board.

    Stunnel: Emailing with OE5 & GreenMail

    Not sure exactly what Baton Mail's requirements are, the home page doesn't seem to show any. But my guess is it needs a 68030 minimum. I think I got as far as your did with Eudora Lite as well. You could probably setup another machine and run a SMTP server that would forward emails to another...

    Mac Classic II with vertical stripes

    My Classic II has decided it is time to put in new caps as well. :p It's interesting how few vertical lines it's showing. Pics online usually show more of the "vertical jail bar" like manugrapevines's.

    Everyone's Favorite Math Game for Mac

    Yup, Number Munchers is definitely a winner. :D The only other math games we had were Math Blaster Episode I: In Search of Spot and Math Blaster Ages 9–12 (a remake of Episode II: Secret of the Lost City,) which were also fun... Though I'm pretty sure I enjoyed Number Munchers the most. ;)
