Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I still have my JetDirect ethernet card that I pulled from my LJ 4+ before I junked it. (Model J2550.) Worked great over AppleTalk.
PM me an offer if interested. ;)
The "AppleDesign Powered Speakers II" uses a standard (12v/1A/positive polarity) AC adapter. These speakers do not have a power switch so I leave them unplugged when not in use. Not sure if they'd be easier to find or not.
Btw, I came across this while looking for a picture of the v2 speakers...
Although I was using hotmail/livemail/outlook during my testing of email clients, most of the information is still relevant. ;)

In a later post I linked to a copy of Mulberry 2.1, which claims support with...
I can't seem to find any references that suggest that wxPython was built for Mac OS 9, only Mac OS X. Seems like one would want to use a faster, compiled language like C/C++ or Pascal for Mac OS 7/8/9 instead of a slower, interpreted language like Python. (Though I do love me some Python!)
In...
Most people use package managers for Mac OS X such as Homebrew or Fink to accomplish this. ;) For older versions of Mac OS X you'll probably want to look at an archived version of Fink.
If you want you could give FullWrite Professional a try on either 6.0.7 or 7.1. (Use System Picker for dual boot even!) This article describes using FullWrite Professional 2.0.6 under classic mode in Tiger. FullWrite supports the Claris' import/export XTNDs.
Currently my Classic II (with a...
Turns out Monaco was designed by Susan Kare. 8-)
I've probably been using Monaco in Mac OS 7/8/9 and haven't realized it. I program mostly on Windows atm so I use Lucida Console. But yeah, I always use a monospaced font when dealing with source code. ;)
Sustainable Softworks gave out a free 1 user license for IPNetRouter's 10th birthday. They still provide downloads for both PPC and 68k on their site. ;)
From what I've read, MPW is somewhat difficult to program in. Can't remember details, other than that it was more complicated to get things to work in it.
What I (still) plan to do is learn Pascal and use THINK Pascal (now freeware) and make fun and simple GUI apps. Eventually making games and...
@RickNel: Have you tried the "0x" trick? I've had to do this under Mac OS 9 and 10.4. So maybe it's a hardware thing?
While I do not have any Macs at home running Linux, I did help my library set up their Mac Mini G4 with Lubuntu 12.04LTS as a web server and Circulation System. It's been...
Since I don't own one I can't provide any helpful tips. But I did come across this webpage that might be of some use: http://www.kevinomura.com/powerbooks/powerbook100/
The second USB connector was plugged in a separate bus yes? (They can't be connected next to each other, otherwise they're drawing power from the same bus, least that's my understanding.) I've got an USB enclosure for a 2.5" IDE drive and have had to do some trial and error until I found the...
Actually, that's exactly what I'm doing in my PowerMac 6100. I've got two female 50pin to 68pin connectors (one of the motherboard and the other on the CD-ROM drive) using a 68-pin SCSI cable. That way I could use one of my 68pin 4GB Compaq SCSI drives and partition it with both Mac OS and...
Neither the Classic I use to own or my Classic II I have had screws to hold the motherboard to the chassis. So I believe that's by design. (It's held in place by the back cover, have that screwed down properly and the mobo is secured. ;) )
According to earlymacintosh.org, Mac OS 7.6 dropped support for writing MFS format. But from what I'm reading on other guides it sounds like you should be able to make the image... Do you have any 800k disks that you could give a try? As the article states, you can copy 400k images onto 800k...
Found this nifty app that lets you control the brightness for the keyboard's backlight manually. http://labtick.proculo.de/
From what I've read on other forums, it sounds like that 17" PB G4's keyboard backlight were not as bright as later PB G4s.
Yes, once you've extracted the .sea archives what you are left with are DiskCopy floppy images. You'll need to use DiskCopy to make the 4 floppies from the images. (There's a "make a floppy" command in the Utilities menu.)
Well maybe I'll get lucky and find the service manual or something for the combo drive. (Going to have to open the laptop back up as I can't remember the brand.)
