I got my Performa 630 out of storage and it rattled. A couple of small SMD capacitors had presumably leaked and fallen off the board. The case was incredibly brittle too, various bits broke - be very careful undoing the clips! I replaced only the capacitors that had fallen off, and it works fine!
I have 2 of the IIc monochrome monitors (UK 240V versions, made by Samsung) that I have just got out of storage. Both worked perfectly when I first turned them on. One of them made a horrible smell and stopped working after a couple of minutes, the other worked fine for about 10 minutes before...
I got my LCII out of the loft after many years and found the following:
Power supply ticked --> Replaced the 4 ELNA capacitors
Fan powered on but didn't boot or make a sound -- Replaced all SMD capacitors (damaged a pad for the 6.3V capacitor, so replaced that with a radial)
Fan powered on...
