Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I suspected this may have been the case, but I was too lazy to check since none of my classic Macs were powered on at the time I posted :D
Haha, fair enough - wasn't aware that it would be a nontrivial modification.. is this mostly due to the System 6 support?
🤔 Drop support for unencrypted...
Agreed -- except I might recommend graying out the 'key' field when 'Open' is selected rather than making it disappear? Both to prevent UI elements from appearing out of nowhere, but also the spacing of elements when the Key field is hidden looks a little off.
Totally nitpicking here, it looks...
I don't have any answers, but a few things you can try. And for what it's worth, I had a NuBus ethernet card that I could absolutely not get working on a IIci, with 7.1, or 7.5.x. Problems went away when I switched to a different card. (I'll double check in the morning; I think the one I had...
Got mine in the mail the other day -- look great! Got one installed in the IIci but haven't actually powered it on yet :) It's been running without a battery at all for over a year - will be weird to see it retain its 32bit configuration!
This is very cool :). I'm sure you have no shortage of testers, but I'd be interested in picking up a few; I'd be interested in deploying them across a IIci / 8500 / Q650 network. Could add a virtual machine or two into the mix if useful as well.
Oh, agreed, it doesn't scream early 90's :-) But I like the way the vents match up with the 'Snow White' design language. And there's nothing overly 'modern' about it to the point where it would look anachronistic (IMO of course).
Good option for those who require > 1024x768 resolutions (like...
Not sure if you've already found a solution or not, but I recently picked up a NEC 2090UXi, which is 1600x1200 native (4:3). It comes in black & silver; the silver version looks right at home with my vintage Macs IMO. Especially the Snow White vintage machines. I almost wish I had picked up a...
More out of stubbornness than any practical reason, I'd like to get a monitor working with the internal video on my IIci. Please feel free to skip over all of the narrative below and jump to the last paragraph, where I actually ask the relevant question.
Well, if I were to come up with a...
Very cool, thank you for making these available! Just ordered a few. Love that they are "plug and play" - I am slowly realizing how little free time and/or motivation I have to take on projects like these on my own :)
Right - that is my thinking as well. Either finding the code that constructs the packets, and overwriting the bytes there, or perhaps even simpler, finding the code that determines the local IP in the first place, and overwriting there, should result in a seamless solution.
Not necessarily -...
This is actually a really good idea. If I am understanding the discussion in this thread correctly, it should be possible to patch the app to do exactly this, and have things work 'natively' - as long as everyone is using the patched version. It might be worth doing this as a low-cost proof of...
I haven't had a bad eBay shipping experience in many years, so I was caught by surprise a couple of weeks ago when an IIci showed up in the mail... The seller just put it in a big cardboard box, and threw a few pieces of crumpled up paper in there with it. I've never seen a worse packing job in...
Thanks for the replies -- yeah I originally planned to order from apple rescue of Denver before noticing they were out of stock too. Doh!
I've been keeping an eye on eBay.
Great pointer to Herb's store - I've sent him a note. Looks like he might have some feet as well - fingers crossed!
Small...
I've recently been resurrecting a IIci and managed to get just about everything working.
One thing that's starting to bother me is that I don't have an interrupt switch -- all three of the machines & cases that I've used to cobble this thing together are missing theirs :) Anyone know of a...
