Hi Fizzbin:
I can get the OS installed as well, and everything will look fine. When I try to boot from the SATA drive (or the SSD for that matter) , I get all kinds of irritating errors. I am wondering if it will be more reliable as just a storage device, and not a boot drive. I've spent so...
Hi Cory: I am using brand new cabling that came with the PCI SATA Card. The only other SATA cables I have came with a Seagate Barracuda I bought to go in my NAS, and I didn't need them. They're still sealed in their plastic bag. Bad cables should not be the issue.
I am starting to wonder if there isn't something wrong with 1) the install disk or 2) this G3. I took the SSD out and put in a 250 GB Maxtor SATA drive. I ran the installer software again, and it stopped while installing Internet Access, saying these was something wrong with Tool.UI.html and I...
Yes, Lime green G3 install disk. Came with one of the beige g3's, we have never bought a B&W, but we bought all of the Beiges used, and who knows what was sent with them. No circles, just an apple, a title and some really hard to read tiny print around the edges and to the right hand...
I am using the version that came with the G3 install CD. I have an install disk for OS 9, I could try that. I could try making the partition even smaller, but I've already surrendered 10 GB, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. The drive is perfectly fine, as long as I do not try to make...
I reinstalled the SCSI2SD board and the G3 booted right up. The SSD shows up and reads that it is peachy-keen. I still haven't been able to boot from the SSD.
Thanks Cory. I am checking for bad blocks right now. I figured it couldn't hurt. The SSD is blank, so I will gladly try your suggestion. I used MAC OS Standard formatting because this G3 is destined to make files for the IIsis to use to run the turret presses. I wasn't sure if the...
Removing the SCSI2SD board does not solve the problem. I am still getting error type 11. I ran DFA again after the most recent failed boot, and I have a new message as shown:
I reproduced the error screen with extensions off, see attached. I also Started from the CD again, and ran Disk First Aid. Everything is reading normal, see attached. My next step is to remove the SCSI2SD board.
Hey FIzzbin, I am having some odd problems and I wondered if you had any input. To quickly recap: I bought the same PCI card you did. Installed, ASP sees as a SCSI card, this is normal. Attached it to an SSD bought from OWC. ASP sees it as a device on SCSI Bus 1. So far so good. Able to...
I just hooked up the SSD I could never get to work with the SATA to Pata adapter, and now the G3 sees it! I was able to initialize and mount the SSD. I wasn't expecting to see a 2nd SCSI bus appear, but hey, it works and I am not going to quibble the point. I am going to price a bigger SSD ...
Have you had it apart? IIRC, these were very easy to take the back off of to get a good look at the motherboard AND they were victims of the bad capacitor plague. That's the first place I would look for problems, if you haven't done it already.
