    SE FTP issues

Sorry that I never got back to this post! I haven't had a chance to get back to the SE. Hopefully I will get some time soon to try your troubleshooting. I really appreciate the time you took to give me all of these ideas to try!

    SE FTP issues

Hello! My Macintosh SE has a Farallon EtherMac SE card in it. This installation of System 7 has been used on and off for about 8 years, with no hardware changes. I have 4 MB of RAM installed, running 7.0.1 . I have used Fetch 2.1.2 many times in the past to download or upload files to my...

    Classic Restore

Here’s a bad pic of a hard to reach spot... but here is a color comparison of how the white/gray putty looks dried compared to the yellowed front of an internal zip drive.

    Classic Restore

You can sand that screw hole down, use some JB Weld "SteelStik" (an epoxy putty that dries white-ish gray, or use something similar) smash the putty into the hole, and then make a flat & textured surface on the front by pressing the battery cover into it, or a foam sponge.  It's such a...

    Adding Audio-in to a IIci?

The mac garden page for "macrecorder-hypersound-soundedit" has a link to an hqx file with instructions to build your own adapter. I'm at work at the moment or I could open the file and get the schematic for here.

    3D-Printed Objects

Here's the 15mm fan that goes with that for example, Macintosh SE 1/2 AA battery and Pi Zero for scale.

    3D-Printed Objects

I’ve finally finished this model after two years of working on it 7/18/18 is the date in fusion360! Macintosh Quadra 700 micro for the pi zero https://p3d.in/u/zero82386 This final version just needs 4 M2 2.5x3 knurled nuts and 4 M2 screws to hold your board in place. Optionally you might...

Help! How to Install OS X Leopard

That disk is for intel based systems, your going to need to find one for the G5 explicitly or a PowerBook G4 / Mac Mini G4 Disc

Help! How to Install OS X Leopard

That looks like Snow Leopard 10.6 if I am not mistaken, which won't run on a PowerPC G5, You'll need a Leopard 10.5 disk.

Still Looking for the Perfect BinHex / Binary Encoding Tool

On the IIci, I'd look for one of the stuffit extensions. I can't remember (dropstuff?) but I had problems copying files SE > G3. The sit files were extracting as soon as they got to the other HD. Maybe it's doing that with the BinHex'd files?

    Terminal Here Plugin

Looks like it might, it's a script compiled into a .app file. I opened its guts and found this embedded changelog:

MacIPgw VM 3.0 | TCP/IP over LocalTalk gateway

Works fine over ethernet. Took a bit of fiddling though. At first, the AppleShare folders showed up just fine, but none of the web routing worked. However, changing the IP address to something on my local network range, and pointing it to my actual router, let me use the VM as a proxy without...

    Mac-Mini ReDux Fail . . . but it's OK!

I'm curious to this as well. I don't know how to search this kind of question. I needed screws to mount an internal Zip, and couldn't find anything that matched -- except for four of those standoffs that are on the sides of serial/parallel/vga ports, etc. Not much help because I don't know what...

MacIPgw VM 3.0 | TCP/IP over LocalTalk gateway

Thanks for your work on this! I have used stunnel and  WRP in the past to bring some modern internet to my iMac G3 and a OS/2 box. I don't have the host machine set up anymore but I already have a virtualbox host up, so this is great.

    Mac SE with db37 connector

Hey! I think it's the Mac SE Bus Card  https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/apple-computer-mac-se-bus-pc-drive-169674199 https://wiki.preterhuman.net/Macintosh_SE-Bus_PC_Drive_Card

MacIPgw VM 3.0 | TCP/IP over LocalTalk gateway

gotcha. I think I'm going to play around with this and see if I can get some of those features running on my SE with a Farallon EtherMacSE. I've used it over ethernet in the past just fine for FTP and Telnet, but a pre-built solution for WRP at least is pretty cool.

MacIPgw VM 3.0 | TCP/IP over LocalTalk gateway

I'm performing a bit of necromancy in here, but a question on this, does this work with ethernet equipped macs or strictly localtalk bridged macs? Thanks!

System 7 on a Rasberry Pi

I used that guide to get System 7 up on a Pi Zero W.  It worked great, but like @dcr said, it needs to be launched from raspbian. It was about as slow as macintosh classic II.  I think without the GUI OS in the background it would have been more responsive. For what it's work it worked pretty...

    Mac-Mini ReDux Fail . . . but it's OK!

Following with intent! I'm going to try a similar case mod to shorten(slim) a normal form factor ATX case into an XT desktop style case.
