Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I've got a Powerbook G3 Lombard set up with a SCSI2SD on the external SCSI. I've got a bunch of files on there on an HFS+ partition that I use frequently. I am trying to copy them up to a newly set up a2server appleshare, but keep getting copy errors on quite a few files.
I click continue...
These are the ones that were recently recommended for me. I've used them before as well and they seem to work well.

Something else I figured out today.
I wanted to NOT have too big a device for fear of incompatibility with some systems, but I only had a 4 GB and a 16 GB card. I wanted an 8GB card.
So in the SCSI2SD setup, I just make the first device 8GB and left the rest undefined. That way, I can add...
Lido and Anubis are useful utilities for setting up drives too.

I particularly like Anubus' feature to create X number of equally sized partitions on a device; very easy.
Well, we don't know. So far, out of three boards, only one would work at all. And that one apparently has issues with the on board video (doesn't work) and the soft power. So we can't see if there is a sad mac.
@maceffects what version SCSI2SD devices do you have? I have had major issues (as evidenced above) but made some progress recently.
I have two 5.0a versions and those are a major problem. One of them had somewhat old firmware on it, but even with updating, I've had nothing but issues with...
Well some good news. A Q650 I also got off eBay has a damaged case (in shipping) but a good MoBo. So I can have a stealth Q650 inside a Centris 650 case.
@jeremywork and I spend some time with my IIci's and he also had a TechStep. His did the same thing as mine, which is that it has a hard time getting into test manager mode - it seems to wait and wait forever. At one point we just left it and when we came back it said success. I can only...
Well, to answer my own thread, it was almost certainly due to SCSI2SD issues. I had two red 5.0a cards and they were nothing but trouble. One of them had an older 4.6 firmware on it and there is a known issue with multiple scsi devices that was fixed later one in the firmware.
I updated both...
I tried booting into 7.5.3 from a floppy, which doesn't include the Startup Disk control panel, but I ran it from one of the partitions that had 7.5.5 on it. Still get the same thing. Very very strange.
I watched the very excellent video on cleaning an re-lubricating floppy drives that was posted here some time back:
I managed to refurbish one superdrive and then started on a second. The second works great, except the auto-eject doesn't work at all. Nada. It doesn't even make a noise. I...
I've been working on putting together a stable SE/30 for a week or more. It's got:
- A recapped motherboard
- A SCSI2SD v5.0a with a 16GB card in it and 5 2GB partitions
- A Stratos PDS / Cache adapter
- A Daystar 68030 @50Mhz
- A Radius color pivot card
I had System 7.5.5 installed on...
@joethezombie What orientation are you printing it out in? I tried to print it flat with the periscope on top, but the support structure underneath was rediculous, and I ended up breaking the piece trying to get it off.
So, has anyone ever tried to make brittle plastic less brittle? Out our curiosity, I googled that idea and came up with this page:

I've definitely been doing it as per the video - everything off, tech step on, computer on (when necessary). And everything off when removing or plugging in cables.
I don't think the TechStep is responsible. The first IIci I was trying to diagnose had issues before I ever plugged the TEchStep in. The IIvx I never got to try the TechStep, I was ready to call it a day at that point. The other IIci systems probably already had issues as ell. It just sucks...
Wow, I'm on a particular streak of bad luck. Next up for the TechStep was my working IIvx, recently recapped, with a decent video card, a DayStar 040 @40Mhz, and a SCSI2SD in it. That one is dead too. I think I need to call someone and ask for the WTF department.
