I used to produce quirky and humorous (at least to me) family newsletters on my SE/30 back in the day using Pagemaker. My 10 yo daughter was inspired last summer and wanted to create family newsletters. I was very shocked at how hard it is to find a decent page layout application for Macs and...
I decided some 10 years ago to collect a bunch of Laserwriter and Laserwriter Plus units. I also bought out Herb's stock of replacement parts for those, like 4 good size boxes. I've been lugging all this crap around for 10 years through like 10 moves. Each one of those babies is 75 lbs. ...
@napabar what SCSI to USB adapter are you using? I've got a couple of them but I've never gotten them to work. I assumed some kind of driver was necessary or something.
I think for simplicity our focus should be to provide only the internal greyscale enhancement. That is obviously one of the most highly valued enhancements to the SE/30 that people desire, given the prices of the Xceed greyscale capable cards.
Once that is done, the work can be leveraged into...
I believe @Bolle is reverse engineering the 306-48 card with the intent of coming up with a new (simpler) design for an internal greyscale only variant that can be mass produced. The idea is do do away entirely with the external video option and focus just on the internal greyscale.
That...
Here is what I am seeing under Catalina for Basilisk II.
Color is definitely off. And it only starts about every other time. Half the time I double click and it quickly opens then closes.
I ordered a Kryoflux FWIW. I was motivated to be able to write Dos disks so I can try out my MacCharlie, but it will be interesting to try and archive stuff too.
I think we talked about Diskcopy above, when to use v6 and when to use 4.2.
- 4.2 for floppies
- 6 for CD's.
But now I'm making...
Ok, well, never mind the Bollocks on that one. Turns it it was a file system permissions issue. When I copied the GSFILES directory structure to the Mac share name, while preserving permissions, that fixed the problem.
sudo cp -rp GSFILES/ MACFILES
Okay, I ran into a bit of a problem. With the new "Mac" share I created, I can no longer write to it, at least from Mojave.
I checked and double checked all the permissions and everything is wide open.
I can write just fine to the out-of-the-box GSFILES share. For kicks, I swapped the...
Another tip. Under 9.2.2 on my Lombard, it would not browse to the a2server in the Chooser, so I had to connect via IP address. So I gave the VM a static IP address. This involved editing /etc/network/interfaces (via sudo) and changing this:
iface eth0 inet dhcp
to something like this...
I'm playing around with a2server now. I have it running as a virtualbox VM at the moment and can see it from my Mojave Mac and a 9.2.2 Mac (so far).
http://ivanx.com/a2server/a2server_virtualbox.html
I created a separate Mac share as follows:
In /etc/netatalk, edited AppleVolumes.default...
Ah, ok, this had to do with the unix permissions on the a2server end. The .AppleDouble and .AppleDesktop files did not have the correct user and group, probably created when I first tried to copy something with a resource fork.
Changing them to the default user "user1" and to 777 permissions...
I also tried copying from the SCSI2SD (HFS+) to another SCSI2SD partition that is HFS. That worked fine. Then from the HFS partition I tried to copy to the AppleShare on a2server and got the same issue.
