    Regarding the 575 vs 580

No, it was completely blasted. I think I saved a floppy drive and that was it. The lady used plastic bags as padding.

Oh, yeah, I don't care where they come from, as long as they're legit. Do these people you mention have stores that I can order from or are they just forum members?

So would this work as a replacement then? We've got 47uf and 16v. http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/171932770648

Great info! Sadly, I actually have no way to test this. I only have the main board. This is just practice for the real thing.

I'm doing this before any leaking has occurred. I just don't trust myself with a multimeter enough to check traces. I've only ever measured batteries. I've looked up Tantalum caps but I can't figure them out. They don't have leads. How do I attach them with solder if they don't have wirey...

Also, would this work as a replacement? Just want to make sure I'm on the right track. http://www.ebay.com/itm/47uF-16v-Dipped-Tantalum-Capacitor-Radial-Lead-Lot-of-10-/252047885103?hash=item3aaf39832f:g:INsAAOSwd0BVwiOB

I have a 580 logic board collecting dust and i've decided to put it to use. I have a couple functioning systems that I want to recap, but since I'm new to the process, I want to practice first. I'm using the instructions detailed here: http://www.classicmac.net/reference/caps/ My first...

    Regarding the 575 vs 580

How's the display on the 580? Surely not as good as the 575, but bad?

    Regarding the 575 vs 580

I've been wanting to buy a 575 for years, but I can never seem to find any via craigslist or any other local sources and I've been unlucky in getting any off of ebay (won once, arrived completely smashed to bits). I'm getting to the point where I feel like maybe I should just buy a 580 off ebay...
