I am finally a Macintosh II owner again

The German magazine c't had a project for a small 68020-68030 adapter board, which might be a more viable alternative to finding a PMMU chip: Hochsitz Adapter für 68030-CPU in 68020-Sockel Holger Zimmermann, Carsten Meyer Projekt, 68020/030-Adapter, PAK68/2, 68000, Prozessor-Austausch c't 7/93...

    IIci ROM options?

No, I wouldn't expect so. The IIci was the first Mac II model to use the 68030 MMU during boot for setting up its address space, ISTR for re-mapping the internal graphics into Nubus slot address space. This created a lot of compatibility issues at the time, to the point where journal articles...

    Netatalk 2.2.7 Released

    Andy’s PowerBook Problem

I had a TiBook (GbE, 550 MHz, the second series) in the early 2000s. While on my Pismo, the only time the fans ever came on was when it hung in MacsBug and I put it into the neoprene sleeve, during summers the TiBook would roast my finger tips. Putting it on my thighs was unthinkable. Bases...

Creative Solutions: Nubus card Hurdler-CPI IEEE1284/Centronics/Parallel port

Search for the pdf manual for the Primera Pictura 310s thermo-transfer printer, and you will find a Hurdler reference. The printer driver lets you pick the interface in Chooser (but that is a driver specific feature), and you can then select the Hurdler card if installed.

Creative Solutions: Nubus card Hurdler-CPI IEEE1284/Centronics/Parallel port

I found two flyers for the Hurdler CPI card, an older one on bitsavers, and a newer one on archive.org. The older one talks about a printer driver. But... you have to remember Macintosh printer drivers of the era had the transport driver baked in. I remember my HP DeskWriter came with a serial...

Creative Solutions: Nubus card Hurdler-CPI IEEE1284/Centronics/Parallel port

I'll have to have a look at home... FTR, there is a NetBSD driver for the card, authored by yours truly.
